“Waterhouses Cycle Hire”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

Hired a tandem on 22 Sept 2013. First tandem experience! Professional service, knowledgeable and friendly chap running the cycle hire facility at Waterhouses.

Thoroughly recommend hiring a bike from there.

“A grand day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

Went here to do a circular walk from wetton mill. Taking in a good chunk of the manifold way. Easy going underfoot as mostly Tarmac. Lovely scenery, interesting caves and geology. Circle hire available, parking (but get there early). Nice tea room with toilets. Wheelchairs could easily cope on most of the route. OK for buggy,s or strollers.

“Better than Alton Towers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

When the children were very small we would cycle short distances along the trail and that was enough for them. With parking at both ends and at several places along the way it was always possible to plan to ride a suitable distance and still stop in the middle for tea and ice creams. Now we go a bit further but nobody ever gets tired because the trail is almost completely level for its entire length. The scenery is varied and enchanting. Much better than Alton Towers.

“Free 3 hours of beautiful views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013 via mobile

Cycled Hulme End to the far end and back 18 miles.

Nice hot day.
Track easy even for children.
Cars on a few small stretches.

Ice cream and Wetton Mill tea rooms. Nice by the river.

At far end at cycle hire, mmmm.
It does what it advertises.
Drinks available and ice cream so all happy.

No ATM in the village and shop refused to give cash back. Shame as I was going to spend it with them!! Lol.

“Great bike ride through gorgeous limestone scenery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

At the Waterhouses end of the Manifold trail you can hire bikes and buy cycling kit and basic refreshments.
Trail runs along trackbed of defunct light railway with attractive iron bridges and a shortish tunnel.
The valley gets deeper and rockier in the middle with Wetton Mill a good stopping point for an ice cream and a rest by the river. About a mile before that is Thors Cave - one of the most impressive cave openings in Britain and a steepish walk up the east side of the valley.
Not much open at Hulme End but the round trip of about 3-4 hours provides easy cycling with one a short road section and great views.
Can be very busy on summer weekends.
