“Stunning cathedral, pretty town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

The cathedral is really stunning both inside and out. The history there is fascinating, and the astronomical clock is extraordinary - worth stopping for a few minutes on the quarter hour to watch the knights moving around the clock. It is worth the few minutes walk to Vicars Close - a stunningly beautiful, original mediaeval street.
The town itself is really lovely, we really enjoyed just walking around the streets.
Highly recommended!

“Beautiful cathedral - a place to put on your bucket list!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2013

I have visited the cathedral twice and both visits were wonderful. The actual cathedral is stunning and jaw dropping. Just looking at the exterior of the building makes me smile and you can definitely see the effort people put in to making sure the cathedral and the surrounding area are well maintained. Once inside the cathedral it's like being in another world. Their is so much to see and so much you can learn about the cathedral itself, the city Wells and the history of the area. There was a school choir singing on my second arrival and it brought a tear to my eye. You must spend some time in the cathedral to really appreciate all the hard work that has gone into making it such a wonderful, spectacular building. Also available at the cathedral is a donation box, candles which your able to light for your loved ones and also a shop and cafe.

“Awesome cathedral!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2013

Amazing from inside and outside, specially the west front. It has so many carvings and statues on the outside than you can spend several minutes watching them all. Inside, the best part of course are the scissor arches, but don't miss as well the Lady Chapel and Chapter House. The astronomical clock is another attraction of the cathedral and you can watch it working every 15 minutes. This is one of the two cathedrals on which the author of "The pillars of the earth" novel inspired on (the other one is Salisbury cathedral). So if you liked the TV adaptation or the book, you must be at Wells some day!... I only came to this place because I was astonished when I saw Wells cathedral on TV. A real treasure in a samll town!

“Still Awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

If you're driving from the west country to London stop off and visit. just stunning as a cathedral and the surrounding town is a gem....there's a hardware shop in the back streets that's a throwback to my youth! I'd not been here for 40 years...why have I waited so long?

You must visit this stunning tranquil place. Don't forget to visit Vicars Close which is a row of beautiful houses from centuries gone by!
