Wells itself is a lovely little town which is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. The cathedral itself however is fantastic !! It stands in a beautiful historical setting with lots of interesting things to see all the way around it. Inside is equally grand and awe inspiring . The whole place was exceptionally well managed I thought. After our trip we went into the cathedral cafe which was a delight, very well thought out, views from windows were fab. Another great plus is there is no admission fee, although a donation is suggested, which I think most people contributed to , at least in part. I think that this takes the pressure off families wanting to visit, who perhaps wouldn t be able to visit if the cathedral was managed differently. Would definitely recommend to families who have an interest in historical buildings. Also look out for Louis the cathedral cat : ))
