“JUST FANTASTIC PLACE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2010

Beryl B&B is superb from the gracious hostess to the staff to the incredibly beautiful mansion!! Having been to dozens of B&B's I would rate this one right up there at the top!. Our 9-year-old girl is very well-traveled, sophisticated and has excellent manners. She was greeted warmly by Holly, our host, and made to feel like an important adult. This made our visit so special. Our room overlooked farmland with grazing sheep in and idyllic setting. Our girl had her own sleeping alcove with her own cupboard and a door separating our area from hers. She felt so special. Our canopy bed was wonderful. The mansion is magnificent and we were able to relax in the common rooms which reflected the warmth of Holly's home. Breakfast was equally fantastic with a "groaning board" of delightful fresh buffet items and a hot full English breakfast.

Beryl is a trip back in time! An English country home with view of Wells Cathedral but set in its own park-like garden, House is filled with antiques and inviting public rooms including a game room with an honor bar. Many steps up from the more typical UK B&Bs which lack public spaces. The owners do everything to make you comfortable and the included breakfast is very generous and beautifully served on fine china. Excellent dinner options in Wells and the surrounding area. We enjoyed the Slabhouse Inn 10 minutes away with its gourmet cooking and fabulous cheese tray.

Holly Nowell and her family extended a warm welcome to their atmospheric and much loved family home. Of special note - apart from the striking gothic architecture, landscaped gardens and romantic evening walk to the house through the estate on the edge of Wells - was the heated outdoor pool, generous embossed towels and equally generous bathtubs, luxurious bedding and healthy breakfast menu. The only room for improvement, if any, would be for 'Beryl' to cater for evening diners... then there would be little incentive to leave the house at all!

We stayed overnight to break our journey down to Cornwall, and feel we found a real gem. We were welcomed on arrival, cases taken to our room, everything we could wish to know about our stay was explained, we asked about good restaruants in Wells, and were given a good choice (Cafe Bar was excellent) Breakfast was a real traditional affair which was more than ample to see us on our way to Cornwall

We have just returned home from a weekend break in somerset, staying a Beryl B&B, and felt totally compelled to write a reveiw about it. The B&B was 'Eccentrically English' is the best way to describe it! we were greeted upon arrival (which was rather late evening) by the owner who was very agreeable, we were also greeted by a host of cats. The room was perectly adicuate we were at the very top of the house and it was rather difficult to manouver our suitcase up and along very narrow stairs and hallways, but that said the room was very comfotable with all the ammenities you would expect, although we were met with a rather large fungus of some descrition in the showeroom, which was discovered by the cleaner the following day and removed. breakfast was marvelous probably the best cooked breakfast i have had at any hotel stay. the staff we had contact with were all very nice although in the time we stayed, three days we really didn't have much contact with anyone at all and at times it was as if we were the only people there.
Anyway to summerise the B&B was lovely and our stay was pleasent and comfortable, and could not have been more English countryside hotel if it had tried x would recomend this B&B to anyone is looking for a very quite break, but not to anyone looking for an exciting break away :) xxx
