Now I'll be honest. My husband and I first visited The King Arthur in December 2012 and found the bar staff to be rude and unhelpful which was a shame as the atmosphere of the place was great, very buzzing compared to many pubs in the town. It seemed the same in July when I visited with my sister and again, the bar staff seemed indifferent and at one point were so busy chatting among themselves that I was left waiting for nearly ten minutes before someone came to serve me.
We decided to give it one more go and I'm glad we did as the barmaid was very friendly and sociable. I cannot comment on the food as the kitchen is closed for refurbishment, however, we will definitely return.
The choice of beers and ciders really is excellent and there always appears to be a good tune on. I just hope it is this good when we return later in the year.
