We stayed here for one night during May. It felt a bit odd not being shown our room and just being told, in a very un-interested way, where to go....which was through a hall and up stairs that smelled like a damp caravan loo. But the room itself was very nice, clean with a nice en suite and excellent shower. The bed was extremely comfortable.... the comfiest I've ever slept on away from home infact and the linen seemed to be very good quality. I still kind of feel that £75 is a lot for a room in a pub, but that could just be me being unrealistic given that Glastonbury is such a tourist destination.
Despite being right in town, we enjoyed a quiet night even though we had the windows open as it was so warm. The breakfast the next morning was excellent. Really good quality, generous food presented really well. The young guy that served us was ultra polite and helpful. This made up for the weird checking in experience.
As we left and I gave my keys in to the desk, the woman that took them just said "you've paid right ?" (which I had) and said not one other thing....no 'I hope you enjoyed your stay' or 'hope to see you again' and she looked really grumpy. Perhaps she had a bad night or something else going on but it made me feel pretty empty and uncomfortable.
So to summerize; a nice clean and comfy room right in the centre of town with an excellent breakfast - but at a price of £75 for a double. They really need to get the smell in the hallway and stairs up to the rooms sorted out. Staff in the restaurant brilliant, staff on the desk (owners?) not very welcoming I'm afraid, but maybe they don't need to worry about repeat business. This I believe is a fair representation of our experience and I hope it is helpful.
