“Excellent value and tasty food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

Excellent mushroom and asparagus pie, very reasonably priced. Superb sausage and mash too. We sat upstairs in the window seat and watched the world go by as we ate. We will definitely come back when we next visit Bath. Oh and my partner can vouch for the Raven beer too!

“Nice little pub tucked away but not too far from the busy city streets.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014 via mobile

I only stayed for a beer but will visit again to try some food.

A nice friendly, traditional British pub.

“Good beers, food and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2014

A really good selection of real ales were available, the "Beery Beer" went down a treat. The pies might be from Pieminister but the Raven pie is exclusive to this pub alone and is not to be missed. The staff are really friendly too!

“Nice Pie, Poor chips and service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2014

Pie very good (I'm not as enthusiastic as other reviewers about a factory made pie that I can buy in Morrisons) but it is 'very good'. With such a simple and limited kitchen skill required in reheating a pie it fails me as to why the chips are cooked from frozen?.... A whole better customer experience for just a little effort seems a fair trade off?....
If they are worried about extra labour costs then don't worry as I suggest utilising the barman's time. That said he already seemed aggrieved at the inconvenience and interruption to his daily newspaper read that his wage paying customers provide..............
Maybe the laziness is inherent and may explain the frozen chips.... With a little bit of love and care this place could be significantly better.

“Really nice pub, surly service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2014

A city centre pub with an interesting history. A great selection of beers. In The Good Beer Guide and rightly so. But the barmen could scarcely look up from his newpaper to serve me.
