Description: When the King William restaurant in Bath was converted from the knackered pub it used to be, it became it gastronomic hotspot for Bath-ites who adore the excellent food and relaxed setting. The ground floor is a pub, with the fine dining room upstairs, all now eclectically kitted out with in shades of mauve with antiques, chandeliers and daily blackboard specials. Seasonal, free-range, organic and local sum up the provenance perfectly, for dishes like fried squid with fennel, ruby chard and green sauce and main of fantastic braised lamb for two with herb broth, mash and local greens. Superb small-producer beers and ales and a blistering wine list crown King William a top restaurant in Bath.

“World class”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013 via mobile

I have visited the King Bill several times in the last year and have been meaning to write a review for a while. The quality of the food and beer is the best I've ever had in a pub.

Well kept ales, cosy atmosphere, extremely high quality food and naturally great service by normal friendly people gives this place full marks from me.

“Magical!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

I had been advised by a friend that the King William restaurant was a good place for a romatic meal - being smart enough upstairs to dress up for, but reasonably priced. We arrived to find ourselves the only booking in the restaurant that evening after a busy bank holiday weekend. Instead of insisting that we eat downstairs in the pub-style area, the staff went out of their way to light every candle on every table in the restaurant and adjust the music so that we felt comfortable alone in the upper dining room. The service was impeccable, the food was both beautifully presented and delicious - and three courses, coffee and a nice bottle of wine came to only £90 - which we thought very reasonable for the quality. What could have been a slightly awkward evening was made into a magical meal where we felt like we owned the place - thank you!!

“Wow! Culinary supremacy from a wee little pub!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

We stopped into this little pub expecting to have a pint and some pub food but were completely taken off guard by the cuisine we were served. I wish I had ordered a wine to pair with my meal instead of a pint. The chef clearly has training in the culinary arts, we were served superb cuisine one would expect from a high class restaurant in an expensive hotel in an international city. Were we ever surprised. My advise to you is to try this little pub and order a nice glass of wine to have with your meal. You will be impressed!

“Not pub food. Not pub prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

Dropped in here on the off chance of a table on Saturday night.
We stood at the small bar area and waited and waited for staff to even say hello. Finally we were ushered up a very narrow staircase to a little dining room that seated about 16 to 20 diners. There was a nice table by the window but we were seated in a back corner ( obviously too old and not trendy enough to get a nice table.)
The food was absolutely superb . Madam had the Trout and I had crispy skin pork belly. The accompanying bread rolls were made on the premises and were sooooo good.
Sadly a table of five ladies seated close to us were very noisy, one in particular was almost yelling. We would have loved to stay and sample a dessert but the noise was unbearable.

“First rate lunch.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

Don't need to work hard to back up the previous positive reviews. This is a friendly well run place with fair prices for excellently prepared and presented fresh food. Would not have thought to come here but for a quick scan of Tripadvisor for Bath. Well done. Not off the beaten track but not in the hectic heart of touristy and pricey Bath. Recommended.
