“PPub with no beer”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Pub with no beer - not strictly true but first two selections, Guinness and Bath Gem, not available. Food reasonable with one man doing bar work, taking orders and serving, good job restaurant was not busy.
Maybe try again in the summer.

“Traditional pub serving great food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

We stayed just down the road in a b&b-and as we didn't want to get taxi/bus into town we decided to book here for a meal on Good Friday. We enjoyed the meal and ambiance so much we booked again for Saturday and Sunday. We even benefited from a 2for1 meal deal as we were in early-happy days. Meals were great, portions generous and staff friendly.Nice little dining area downstairs available or eat in bar by the roaring fire.

“A good British pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

We've visited a few times now as we're fairly local. It has a good selection of pub grub and good ales on tap. The atmosphere is nice, especially in the colder months as they have the fires on and it feels nice and cosy. The staff are welcoming and friendly too. All round a good British pub.

“Glad to see its picked up - Great Sunday Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

This used to be a regular of mine, and the Landlord of many years was a personal friend. After he retired, it lost its appeal, as the people who bought it just didnt have a clue. Went once with the current owners, and while the food was good, there was no atmosphere.
Glad to see that has changed, Great food, and the place has realy picked up. I had the burger which was lovely, my good lady plumped for the roast pork, and said it was delicious. And my daughter polished off all of her spag bol...recomemdation indeed. Prices are good, staff friendly and even though it was packed to the rafters, we didnt have to wait long. All that and they had a Bath ales beer on (Gem). Couldnt ask for much more. Glad to see its picked up. Will definately be going on a regular basis now.

“Great classic pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Brilliant friendly service, large and tasty food portions, great wine selection, all in a traditional pub setting. We have continued to use this as a meeting venue from now as so impressed.
