“Simply delightful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

We couldn't have chosen a nicer place to stay. The Hollies, like its owners, David and Joe, is full of charm and character. It is well-situated (a 2-minute drive to the Park & Ride for those who don't fancy the uphill walk from Bath!), has a lovely, secluded garden and is full of fascinating memorabilia. Add to this a comfy bed, clean room and an excellent breakfast and you will see why we would happily return, and highly recommend the Hollies to anyone visiting Bath.

We received a very warm welcome from David & Joe. They couldn't do enough to help us with directions and information about Bath. It took us about 15 minutes to walk into the centre of Bath & a bit longer on the way back as it's uphill. We stayed in the English Room with a separate private bathroom. The house is really interesting so add in viewing time en route to and in the dining room for breakfast. Joe cooked wonderful breakfasts & we had the choice of four different homemade marmalades. The garden is full of a great variety of flowers - unfortunately we didn't have time to sit in it - hopefully next time!

David and Joh were the most gracious hosts we have encountered in our travels. They are helpful and very interesting. They were extremely understanding when we arrived very late and interrupted their dinner. The rooms are delightful and each is unique—full of their treasures. Breakfast was excellent. Tea was properly served—no tea bags. The jams and preserves are very tasty. We would make a point of returning to Bath just to stay with them.

Room Tip: We had the Chinese Room. It has a comfortable seating area. The India Room has a garden view.

We booked this stay as a present for my Norwegian family and we were overwhelmed with the hospitality The hosts were really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the area. The B and B in itself was very comfortable and welcoming. I would recommend this to anyone and will certainly go back. thank you David and Joe!

stayed in the Indian room for 3 nights. Very small brm for 2 people, and the shower room is tiny. the hand basin is in th brm, not the shower/loo area which was a little annoying. Hosts were lovely and helpful, but their knowledge of local pubs for meals was a bit sketchy! the place has no street frontage, so was a little hard to find! A sign at the top of the drive/footpath area with arrows or similar would be helpful.

The house is lovely- we did feel a little like we were intruding into someone's personal place, rather than staying at a B&B, but the house is definitely very interesting and full of treasures. breakfast was really great, and I liked the convivial atmosphere of eating with other guests all at the 1 dining table. I personally loved Amber the cat, and di not mind her being in the dining room while we were having breakfast- however some other guests were a bit surprised, and not as keen. The Hollies does mention there is a cat on the premises, but doesn't say she has the run of the place and there are rules about opening doors etc- so maybe a little more info re that would be good. I guest was allergic to cats, so I am not sure how they coped.

a fridge in the room (would not have fit in Indian room tho) to store medicines and milk etc would have been good.

all up, we had a lovely stay, but we did find the room too small (with little/no space for bags and our things on tables etc) and it is not really an ensuite in the Indian room. This is the main reason for the slightly lower rating.

Bath is lovely and we enjoyed the walk into town- the walk back is pretty steep tho :).

A very good b&b, with an own authentic style. Excellent atmosphere. The owners were very friendly and helpfull. Prima cooking, with passion. The rooms are well decorated. They sell self made marmalade.
All excellent. Definitely the best b&b when we were in England. Walk from center Bath to the b&b is uphill (better take a taxi back, 5 minutes). Beautifull city. Much to see

My husband and I stayed in the Hollies last weekend, it was truly a lovely stay David and Jo were terrific hosts. This is a very clean house, in fact after leaving I feel I need to redecorate our bathroom at home. It was about a 15 minute walk into town which is slightly downhill not too bad. Breakfast was delicious, I would recommend having tea with it as its proper tea served with a tea strainer. Jo even makes his own jam which is amazing, we bought some to bring home. Amber the cat is so sweet and very well trained. The library is interesting as are all the pictures around the house. We slept in the English room, very comfortable. Would love to go back again.
