Oh my god, what can we say??? This place is amazing. Ok its a bit expensive, but as a treat we would definatley recommend it. We stayed in the King room, and it was fab, the bathroom is as big as our lounge!!!! And the bath is huge!!. The staff are so helpful, and advised us where to go in the Bath for food and drinks, althought the food at The Residence was also exeptional. The whole experience was amazing and we would definatley recommend it. We would love to go back, and hopefully will! You will not be disappointed. P.S- check out the cupboards for extra suprises!!!!

My husband surprised me with a romantic weekend away in Bath for my 40th birthday last weekend and we stayed in the Queen room. Very nice indeed! Tastefully decorated with splendid furniture and great attention to detail. In fact the whole place was just immaculate.View from the front window over was lovely especially as the sun was shining.
We were both made to feel very welcome from the minute of our arrival and wished we could have stayed for longer than two nights. Great location, just outside of the hussle and bustle of Bath but near enough so that the walk into the city centre takes about fifteen minutes and passes all great architecture of the Cresent and the Circus on the way.
The staff were all very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Great local restaurant The Pinch was recommended which was also excellent.
I 'm sure we will be returning when the next special occasion arises.
Thanks to everyone who made our stay so wonderful.

“worth every penny”

The Residence

Dec 29, 2007

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the Residence in Bath for two nights in December as a treat for his birthday and had a fantastic time. The house is beautiful, breakfasts fantastic and you must try the sauna and steam room! We stayed in the Attic room, which is the cheapest, and although the room was very nice at £150 a night it is quite expensive. However we both decided our trip was worth every penny as the hotel was gorgeous, the staff very friendly and helpful and Bath is a beautiful city to visit. If you fancy a bit of a treat, this is the place for you - you won't be disappointed! We would also recommend the Bath spa experience package for £55 a person which includes entrance to the Roman Baths, a champagne cream tea in the Pump Room (make sure you're very hungry!) and a two hour pass to the new Bath Thermae Spa (lying in the open air roof top pool in the dark at the end of December is an experience not to be missed!)

Had a mini 'chill-out before Christmas' break. Stayed in the Loft room - fab bathroom and views. Really comfy bed too. Staff very friendly - very clean etc. Really did feel like a private house / home. Very impressed with the breakfast - Chef cooks to order, in adjoining room, on a huge Aga. A great experience!

Just returned from a 2 night stay in the King Suite. The rooms are all and more than the hotel brochure depicts, our bed was supremely comfortable and the bathroom was stunning, taking a shower was definately something to look forward to! Room's sound system appeared to be on the blink as we were given a portable radio! Mega sized plasma TV, but little to watch as there appeared to be just about 4 channels and a very limited DVD selection. Lynn, the hotel manager makes you feel like a personal friend and jumps to meet all your requirements, but when she is off duty the service definately dips with staff on long personal phone calls (which the intimate details were all too easy to hear!) that make getting a drink tedious and wearing. The hotel menu offers a range of 'perfect cocktails', however when requested a lot of blank looks ensued that resulted in a scramble for the cocktail recipe book and far from perfect drinks, even down to simple requests which ended with very watery or extremely potent G&T's! Alcohol does seem to be a problem as the bottles of red wine we had were rather spoilt by being so cold, comments made seemed to suggest this was not an unknown problem. Although the full restaurant evening menu is not available all week I think (by the lack of fellow diners) that many guests rush to eat out and miss a truly excellant meal prepared in front of you. A word of warning - the hotel is actively pushing the promotion of its club and corporate facilities, if you want a quiet weekend in a hotel and expect to relax as if in a second home, it maybe that your plans will be cluttered by public rooms filled with business clientele during the day and club members at night, all very well in a larger establishment but The Residence is very small and intimate. In short a great property with good food, but quirky service.
