This guest house is tired and shabby, I see that one review complained of soft beds but ours was so hard that the second night we slept on top of the duvet in an attempt to make it a little more comfortable! The carpets in the public ares are dirty, our bedroom was small but passable, unlike the bathroom which was most unpleasant. The plastic washbasin was badly scratched inside, the shower sealant had turned black, the toilet seat fittings were broken so the seat slid around if you dared to sit on it, and the floor was carpeted, not a good idea! Add chipped paintwork and peeling wallpaper to the list and things were not good, the landing lights stopped working on the second day and there was nobody around to attend to them so we had to climb the last flight of stairs in the dark, and the house has an overwhelming smell of plug-in air fresheners which seemed to be in just about every available socket, presumably to cover the smell of damp but it didn`t quite work. The breakfasts were the best thing about this guest house, freshly cooked and plentiful, but that hardly warrants 4 stars and a £40 pppn price tag...as for the private parking, yes it exists but only for 4 cars, the first night we parked on the road outside but the second night the road was full and we ended up having to park 2 streets away....all in all, not to be recommended, at least not until the owners give the entire house a much needed makeover!
