We stayed in the studio apartment at the back of the Bay Tree House for two nights in July 2012. (The rest of the property is B&B; apartment is "self-catering" - this was clearly explained on the website.) This apartment has a bedroom, bath, and a small kitchenette/eating area.
We enjoyed the proximity of the Bay Tree to all the sites in Bath; we walked everywhere. We also appreciated the pamphlets in the room regarding restaurants in the area - we definitely used that information.
Louise, who runs the property, was incredibly accommodating. We arrived late, and she made sure we could access the studio apartment when we arrived. On the day of our departure, she made it easy for us to store our luggage on site so we could explore a bit more before heading to the train station. She was friendly and helpful throughout the stay.
The studio apartment is stocked with milk, juice, cereals/granola, bread, and delicious jams - very generous for a self-catering unit! There is a microwave and toaster, as well as mini fridge. The only complaint here is that I expected some means of being able to cook aside from the microwave (two-burner, hotplate, etc.) as this is what "apartment" connotes to me. This was not clear ahead of time.
The bed and bathroom are equipped with modern appliances. We enjoyed the shower, and slept very comfortably in the double bed. The bathroom is a little hard to manoever in, however: the shower has a curving glass door that allows lots of space in the shower, but which does not open out into the room. So, we had to climb over the toilet to get in and out of the shower.
A final small remark is that the floors were sticky - they seemed due for a mopping as that did not seem to have been done before we arrived. Made me want to keep my shoes on as it did not feel good to walk in socks or bare feet.
I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others.
