Description: Family friendly pub. We serve real ales and a traditional sunday roast we'd be happy to eat ourselves. Fresh, seasonal and appetising, high in quality yet value for money. Great range of meats, chicken, pork and beef or a vegetarian and vegan nut roast.

“Excellent 'proper' pub, and what a Sunday roast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

I've enjoyed this boozer for quite a while, so when they announced they were going to start Sunday lunches I had to check it out. As I say, it's a 'proper' pub with bare floorboards, eclectic artwork on the wall and superbly kept beers and ciders, it is in no way a restaurant. But the food!? Oh my goodness, roast potatoes, roast parsnip, broccoli, Yorkshire puds, er, er, forgotten all the other veg on the huge plate. We don't eat meat so mine was accompanied by wonderful cauli cheese, which the missus doesn't like but she was more than happy with the veg, yorkies & gravy. I live in Bath, so have eaten a fair few restaurant/pub lunches hereabout, but this was the finest I've eaten since my 1st wife's mother's (who is from Yorkshire, incidentally). As the waiter/barman amusingly pointed out, it isn't silver service, there isn't an extensive wine list and if you're looking for the full restaurant experience, forget all about it. But if a quality, well-cooked and presented Sunday roast is what you're after, look no further. Top-notch!

“A fantastic pub with epic Sunday roasts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

With regular live music, friendly staff and a great crowd of customers, the Royal Oak is a top choice of pub to drink at in Bath, and absolutely one of my favourites.

The pub is equipped with a wide variety of ciders, ales and beers with all the usual spirits available, and with a great beer garden to chill out in.

Whether you want a thriving atmosphere on a Saturday night or just a peaceful afternoon pint, this pub is an excellent choice, and is as welcoming to non-locals as it is to its regulars.

A recent addition to the Royal Oak is their Sunday roasts. I went for one on their very first run, which came served with beef, roast pots, roast veg and yorkshire pudding with an epic gravy. The quality of food is high, the portion size is just right, and the prices are really good. Great value for money here.
