We only left as we had to find more substantial food than olives!!
A recommendation from a friend and it was great. Lovely lady behind the bar, really knew her stuff, listened to what we liked and gave us suggestions of what to try. The results were amazing and we both really enjoyed our drinks. The French cocktail may have been the best drink I've ever had!
Mood lighting, roaring fire, good ambience even on a quiet Monday and exceptionally good gin. What more could you ask for?!

“Best bar in Bath (IMHO)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

Cosy, interesting, eccentric - my favourite bar in Bath by far, LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!

The barmen/women are quirky, friendly, and knowledgable, and always up for a craic. Peter the owner is often propping the bar up and chatting with the regulars and new comers alike.

The gins are fascinating, with much on offer for those who prefer something else (but why would you??!).

The interior is cosy and very 'Bath' - love it in the winter when a huge real fire roars - I feel like I'm in a Dickens novel.

The crowd it draws is eclectic and eccentric (so Bath), and always friendly, creating a great vibe about the place.

A fantastic place to go as a couple, group of friends, or even on your own!!

“Try a Hendricks Teapot!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

The Canary was recommended by the owners of the B&B we stayed at in Bath and we were very glad that we took up the suggestion. Located on one of the back roads, easily missed if you're not careful, The Canary is a quirky bar specialising in gin. They have plenty of other drinks available if gin isn't your thing but the variety of gins on offer, not to mention the list of cocktails, is very impressive. We had Hendricks served in a teapot and teacups, a speciality of the bar.

There is seating at the bar, some tall bistro style tables and regular tables suitable for larger groups but do get there promptly at opening time (5pm) if you want a seat. This place gets busy very quickly. The decor is on the dark side featuring velvet, greens and reds. The prices are reasonable (pitcher of cider gin cocktail for £16 for four people) and it was a very pleasant place to do a spot of relaxed people-watching.
