Description: The Kilted Chef is an independent restaurant in the centre of Bath, serving contemporary British food with a Scottish twist. Our warm and ambient dining facilities provide the perfect venue for a relaxed lunch or memorable dinner in the heart of Bath. All our dishes use only the finest ingredients whilst reflecting the varying seasons. Our set lunches and pre-theatre dishes offer particularly good value for money and we have received many favourable reviews of our A La Carte and bespoke taster menus which can be prepared on request.

“Best kept secret in Bath”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

Shouldn’t really be writing this review as I would like to keep this place a well guarded secret. At last a restaurant in the centre of Bath that serves freshly cooked Michelin stared food at a price you can afford. Potatoes and vegetables are included in the price of the menu, none of this charging £3.50 per portion that most other restaurants seem to be doing.

Went for lunch on my birthday, we were greeted and shown to our table and presented a complimentary glass of fizz. We chose from the lunch time menu 3 courses £17.95. The food was excellent, well presented and cooked to perfection. Service was also good and efficient without being in your face. A good selection of wine is on offer again that won’t break to bank balance.

All in all if you want a good restaurant in Bath the Kilted Chef is the place to go but don’t tell every body!! As I would like to get another table to enjoy the experience again.

Thank you chefdave for your extremely positive review, and your flattering comments on Michelin star food - not quite got the star...yet..?! thogh Dougie has had a Michelin Red M in the past... - and not in your face service. Glad you chose to celebrate your birthday with us, it was a pleasure to serve and meet you, and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Best Regards, Sue Chalmers, Front of House Director, Kilted Chef

“Excellent food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

This is a nice new restaurant in Bath. The food is excellent. The service is good and trying. We had a smoked lobster, which was interesting. The smoking of the lobster adds to the taste and makes it unusual. I am not sure it is my thing but I am pleased to have tried it. The beef was good too.

“Excellent food at reasonable a price.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

We visited the Kilted Chef this evening for my husbands birthday and were treated to a fantastic meal. On arrival we were allocated a table that wasn't to our liking so we asked for another and without any fuss were shown to another which was great. We both had three courses, each one extremely well presented and excellent quality. The wine was really well priced and my husband was given a free cocktail as a birthday gift from the restuarant which was a lovely touch. I have to say that this was the best meal we have had in Bath in the ten years we have lived in the area and would definitely recommend this to anyone. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you to all the staff, especially to the chef, for a lovely meal and good service.

“Exceeded Expectations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

We had a 3 course set lunch, nothing to fault. A very warm welcome on arrival. Polite, knowledgeable & attentive staff. Deliciously well thought out food. The little extras were a blessing (infused olive oil/ vinaigrette, 'Dundee Cake' chocolates) and made it a extremely enjoyable experience. Great value. Highly recommended. Looking forward to our next visit.

“Hogmanay Evening 2012”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

A New Year's Eve set 6 course meal. The food was excellent with some traditional Scottish courses such as Salmon with Cullen Skink and Cranachan which I may not have ordered if presented with a choice. The food was well presented and and the service was friendly and accommodating - such as providing an alternative for a fish course. The wine menu was pretty comprehensive and I thought good value - good to see that you can order different glass sizes which helps keep an eye on intake especially for a car driver.

The provision of a bagpiper to make a very traditional evening was a welcome surprise (or depending on your taste for bagpipe music maybe it was to empty the restaurant after midnight)

All in all a very good evening at a restaurant which deserves to do well. It was good to see the chef / staff looking as if they enjoy what they have set up. I will look forward to a further visit.
