Location, location, location. This hotel has it. It's just down Great Pultney Road from the famous bridge and an easy walk to town centre. And, the breakfast is good - juices and cereals to full English, made to order, at a price that can't be beat.

However, the decor is old and tired. The rooms are plain. The beds are hard and the pillows are flat. If you're looking for a no-frills place to lay your head for the night, this one will do nicely.

I have stayed at the Edgar Hotel twice. It's location is great. It is on Great Pulteney St right near the famous bridge. Easiest walk to all sights. It is a converted Edwardian townhouse, which was in need of a refurbish in 1998 when I last stayed there. The hotel was still comfortable without the new furnishings. It did not have phones in rooms, but there was a phone booth on the corner. It is a decent hotel for the price. There is a laundrymat nearby which is convenient also.
In short, it's not the Ritz, but a nice comfy hotel for the price.
