5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2013

The hotel was excellent we stayed in room number 5 and you could not fault it we had a massive balcony with enough seating on it for a small party of about 6 people, the view from the balcony was amazing looking over the river Avon. The park &ride is right on the door step so its so easy to get on the bus into bath and much cheaper it only cost £3.20 return pp. the restraunte/bar was lovely and cosy but the menu wouldn't be very good if you are fussy what you eat , breakfast was nice in the conservatory with again lovely views over the river. The staff were very helpful. Everything was clean in the hotel, and if you stay in the summer months the scenery would be even better. The only thing that let it down was the hot water was only warm in the shower/bath could have been hotter.

Room Tip: pick room 5 its so lovely overlooking the river with a huge balcony

Cosy fireside wood burner, lovely atmosphere as you walk in, staff very helpful and friendly, food excellent, rooms comfy.
Park & Ride just next door and excellent value into Bath City Centre. Lovely little retreat for a weekend away. Would highly recommend.

A beautiful building, handily placed next to park and ride, though difficult to park in hotel car park leading up to Christmas. Location is lovely as we enjoyed a large room with balcony and sat and watched the rowers on the river. The bed was large and comfortable and the shower great even though I usually choose a bath. Not quite enough storage space for toiletries, etc. in bathroom and sink very low in Room 1 - probably for wheelchair access, though on first floor?
The bars are full of character with good choice of wines and some cocktails. The food was good pub food although the breakfast not so good: ours came after others who arrived later and so we had cold tea and coffee by then. The cooked option was also cold. Not much choice at the buffet while we were waiting either and orange juice not topped up enough. The waitress at nighttime and morning sessions was the same lady and very friendly, but otherwise quite a cold reception.
All in all a smashing place to stay for a weekend but would rather stay in Bath itself for a longer stay in spite of lack of parking further in.

Room Tip: must have a balcony for full experience of location

I stay in hotels every week and am rarely moved to write a review. The Boathouse has a really good quality feel about it, the rooms are well presented, you can access the net and watch TV on the Apple Mac in the room, the food is just excellent, I had the Pork Belly, yummy, and the staff are delightful, friendly and helpful. If you need to stay anywhere in the Bath or Bristol area, you will not be disappointed at The Boathouse.

The Boathouse is a comfortable base from which to explore the city of Bath and surrounding countryside. Unlike the city centre hotels, there is ample free parking and a park and ride direct to Bath centre is a short walk away. The room we had was of good size and comfortable with a good sized en suite bathroom and an excellent view over the River Avon. Breakfast is adequate although a limited choice and the day we stayed the option of scrambled eggs with smoked salmon was a non starter as they did not have any smoked salmon. We had dinner the evening we stayed and the menu did offer a good choice and the food was good quality. The bar offers a choice of real ales but I found them not to be too good and ended up with lager (usually unheard of for me!) The staff are helpful and friendly

Room Tip: Rooms 1, 2 & 3 have good river views

My friend and I decided on a last minute trip to Bath and we were so happy to have found The Boathouse. Great B&B with a beautiful setting and great staff. Highly recommended for a quiet getaway to a gorgeous town.
