“Fantastic location!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013 via mobile

The hotel is in a prime location, seconds from the main town! We could walk to all of the attractions, and couldn't ask for a better location as tourists ! :)
The staff are all very helpful too, cheery and very welcoming!
The bathroom flooded every time we showered, but we think this is the norm as there was a drain on the bathroom floor!
The beds are extremely comfortable too!
Although there is not a hairdryer/ iron in the room, these can be taken from reception - free of charge - so that is good.
The only negative we have is that because of the central location, it was often noisy late at night when club goers are returning home; therefore between the hours of 2am-4am we were all very much awake!
This is a grade 1 listed building, so there is no lift (legally not allowed to be fitted!), but stairs are a better option for everyone :) work those leg muscles! Didn't see this as a negative at all!

I have only given 3 out of 5 due to the lack of sleep in the early hours and the fact the rooms could do with redecorating and updating a bit.
Would definitely stay here again though! Oh, and breakfast is lovely too!

just stayed 2 nights, got at lest 2 hours sleep between both nights, thats only because knackered climbing stairs to the pigeon loft, or should i say sea gull loft, ho for an air riffle! place dowdy cramped with an air of an hostel for deportees.shower next best to useless very intermittent depending who else was trying to cleanse the sweat from climbing the stairs. bathroom door would not keep closed hardly any space to swing a cat, but if we had taken one it may have kept the gulls a bit quieter. place ideal for city but that credit belongs to the original builders not the current owners who should not be using this as a reason to charge such a high price for such poor facilities. i must give credit to all the staff who were brilliant though and thier endevours enabled us not to throw ourseves out of the windows as an alternative to the stairs

The parade park hotel was not good value for money. Reception was dingy and receptionist robotic. Room not ready on arrival told to come back in an hour. Room was hot, and the carpet was dusty and wrinkled. The four poster bed was cheap and nasty. Bathroom low grade but clean with no toiletries or hair dryer. Communal areas had a "hostel" like atmosphere. Location was very central but incredibly noisy with night club below and noise from revellers into the small hours. Continental Breakfast was ok but not exceptional but was well organised by pleasant and helpful staff. Expected more for £139.

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel.

Perfect location (very close to the baths, shopping, and city), nice breakfast in the morning, and the friendliest reception we had during our entire two week trip. Great value too! We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

My 14 year old son and I stayed overnight in a small room at the very top of the hotel. The climb was rough, but we made it. The room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom small, but functional. We had a view of the cathedral from our window. The location to city center was wonderful and we could walk to all the main attractions easily. The front desk staff was helpful and kind. The parking is about a block away and expensive! However, I understand that the price was reasonable compared to other parking charges at larger more modern hotels. The breakfast had many options and was good. It is an old hotel in a Georgian town and absolutely perfect if you leave your American snobbery at home. Great choice for great value.

Room Tip: Unless you are fit, do not get rooms on top floor. Stairs are steep and plentiful.

Very helpful at reception, self-serve continental breakfast was fine. The room (4F) was large enough for a family of 4 and on the entrance level, rear facing so no view, but we only slept there so this was fine too. A little noisy as it was a warm night and we had the windows open, but clean and comfortable. Free wifi was useful, but user had to log in via Hotel site before use each time.

Room Tip: 4F is a large rear facing family room on the entrance level, no A/C, so rather hot on a warm night.
