Had planned to write an excellent review but no need- everything already written here is true! A truly exceptional hotel! We were very lucky to stay here at the last minute and will definitely be back at some point in the future- definitely recommend!

We received the friendliest greeting - and most sincere - for any hotel we have ever stayed in. That set the tone for an excellent stay in a beautiful city. Our room was comfortable with a newly refitted, lovely bathroom and the decor and attention to detail were spot on. Breakfast was great too and the hotel's location 1.5 miles from the centre of town meant you could burn off the calories you had had eaten by walking. That might be a downside for some visitors but once we had diverted off the very busy main road into Victoria Park it added to our enjoyment. You will need a taxi if you make the most of Bath's fabulous shops though, so two round trips is going to add £30 a day to the cost of your stay.

Myself and my fiancee stayed at the Apsley House, the weekend before Christmas. I stayed here myself once around 10 years ago, and had always talked about it with positive affection.

We were not disappointed.

Met by the wonderful Steph, every effort was made to make us feel welcome, roaring fire's to warm the frozen December soul!

We stayed in room 11, the Beau room, wonderful king sized bed (four poster), very very clean, the bathroom was superb with a very large iron bath, more than enough for one, or even two!

The hotel has everything "thought out", from the honesty bar for your drinks, to reading the papers by the fire.

Breakfast in the morning was delicious, and a kind farewall from David, made the experience set.

The hotel is really convenient for going out in Bath for a night out (bus is easy, but a taxi is £7 right into the center of bath to there the Abby is). The next morning we went shopping and used the park and ride (out of the hotel, down the hill to the left, £3 per adult return, brill)

Thanks Apsley, we will defiantly be back.

Room Tip: Room 11 is brill, old style bath, but no shower, we loved it, but others might not.

Stayed in Room 1 (Wellington Room) for two nights in December. Warm, personable welcome from the receptionist, who escorted us to our room. Beautiful accommodation. Spacious room with a high ceiling and en-suite bathroom with Molton Brown toiletries. Breakfast was excellent, with a la carte cooked breakfasts supplemented by a buffet. The hotel is on Newbridge Hill, about a 20-minute walk into the City centre along a busy road. We chose to leave the car in the hotel car park and walk into town every day but found it best to go through Victoria Park, away from the main road. There is also a bus service (no 17) which drops you pretty much at the door. Staff were helpful with maps and directions to places to visit. No dining at the hotel, but Bath is spoilt for choice for good restaurants. We liked Loch Fyne and Sotto Sotto for dinner and the Pump Room for lunch. In short, a really good choice of hotel in the outskirts of Bath and would certainly stay here again.

I was taken on a surprise visit to Bath and my partners choice of hotel definitely made the visit even more special. We stayed in the Garden Suite and it was lovely to be able to take our tea in the garden. The bedroom was luxurious, with an en suite bathroom filled with Molton Brown extras. The breakfast was delicious with a wide range of options for vegetarians.

I bought my girlfriend here for her birthday and I couldn't have picked a better hotel. The rooms were well furnished, a massive bath which could fit a rugby team in. Breakfast was lovely, a nice buffet and good service. Also affordable, will be staying here again for sure.

We stayed in the Copenhagan Room at this hotel and it was lovely. It was beautifully clean and had lots of lovely touches to make it really special. The bathroom was modern and lovely, with bath and seperate shower.
We were made very welcome when we arrived and the breakfasts were delicious and served in a beautiful dining room.
Although the hotel doesn't serve evening meals, we were provided with a tray with plates, cutlery and napkins when we decided to take some snacks back with us in the evening.
Nothing was too much trouble.
Would definately go back....
