My wife and I stayed one night at Aquae Sulis in early October on our way from London to Wales. We arrived a little late (8 PM) and had some trouble rousing our host, but once we found her she was quite welcoming and helpful. I recall having a few anxious moments, but I think that was largely due to being frazzled from our first day of UK driving. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing place to spend the night. I thought it was the most luxurious room we had in our 10-day holiday.
The room was very plush with a queen bed and a thick comforter, the towels were thick and soft, and they actually provided washcloths! The shower had some fancy, high-tech equipment like...like I've never seen. It worked very well--good water pressure.
They provided wireless Internet with the instructions typed up on a card in the room. It worked flawlessly. This was the only place of five we stayed at where I got the advertised wireless service to work from the hotel room.
Free carpark with plenty of room. We did a short drive to the municipal park and walked into the city centre for dinner that night and to see the Roman Baths and shop the next day.
The breakfast was sumptuous with plenty of choices and variety. It really felt like a treat.
Jane, our host, was also very gracious and helpful. She had ready advice on everything we inquired about and went out of her way to help us out when we needed to print out some driving maps.
The only glitch we encountered was that we could not dial out long distance. It turned out that she had forgot to switch on our extension when we arrived. I think that was sort of our fault though; arriving after normal hours I believe she just forgot to do it. I suspect that's an unusual occurrence.
I did quite a bit of price comparison before booking this room online. It was a very good deal compared to the other B&B's and small hotels available in Bath. I recommend it without reservation.
