“Wonderful stay, excellent room”

Even though this place is a Bed and Breakfast they have an good website to allow for online booking. The room was large, attractive, and comfortable, and the owners were kind and helpful.

A perk that I did not think we would use was their mini-bar. They offered basic snacks, sodas, and alcoholic beverages at VERY reasonable prices. I think it was cheaper than buying from area stores. They also do not charge very much for local calls, unlike many similar facilities.

The location is a bit far off, they say about 1 mile or so, but its more than that. In nice weather, the walk both to and from the B&B to the Baths and Abbey were very nice, particularly if you walk through the park on the way. Its a much better walk, and I believe less demanding than the more direct route. We had no trouble walking for dinner or other attractions. Cabs were abound if we needed them to return to the Cranleigh.

Great experience, I would certainly stay there again.

“Tranquil, comfortable, good value”

Cranleigh

Jun 20, 2007

Two nights at the Cranleigh guest house were a birthday surprise from my girlfriend. There was no problem about an early check-in (1pm) and we were shown to a very spacious 1st floor room with a huge bay window overlooking the garden. Nice furnishings included two big 19th century French double beds and sofa. The bathroom was bright, modern with a powerful shower but no bath.
A bottle of excellent cava (at a very reasonable £12) chilled us out after an afternoon of rubbernecking - minibar prices are very reasonable compared with most hotels. And Cranleigh does compare well with three- and even four-star hotels for facilities if not location (it's 25 mins walk from central Bath, set in a fairly quiet Victorian/early 20th century residential neighbourhood).
Bed was extremely comfortable, and breakfast (available until 9.30am) was excellent, served in a bright front room with brisk but friendly informality. Eggs, bacon and sausages in the commendable 'full English' were all locally sourced and high quality.
The hosts/proprietors are friendly, welcoming but also unobtrusive and professional. Asked for restaurant recommendations, Denise pointed us towards a couple of French/bistro places - we chose Beaujolais, which does well presented classic cuisine in a buzzy modern setting (£66 for two inc aperitifs and service for a la carte dinner on a Saturday night - a bargain in my book).
We greatly enjoyed both Bath and Cranleigh B&B. I'd certainly stay there again, whether for pleasure or business.

“Excellent Guest House”

Cranleigh

May 23, 2007

We stayed in Room 9 in the Cranleigh.

The room (and the rest of the guest house) was spotless. Our bathroom was excellent with a good shower and a bath with tons of (really) hot water. The breakfasts were high quality - some of the best we have had. The room was comfortable and spacious with a tv/dvd combo.

Although it is a bit further out from town the quality of the guest house really makes up for. It doesn't take long to get to town (20-30 mins) and you can go past Royal Crescent on your way in. Or a short taxi journey for around £6.

Thoroughly recommended.

“Family of Five”

Cranleigh

Apr 25, 2007

We stayed in the best possible accommodations we have ever found for our family of five. The Cranleigh is beautifully decorated, and incredibly clean. Our large room was on the second floor with one double and three single beds with room to spare. The bathroom was equally large and included both tub and stand-up shower. Breakfast was included for all of us, as well as a surprise tea and goody left in our room - all for 135 pounds per night. Only downside is the walk into town, but it's worth every step!

“Excellent B&B”

Stayed here for two nights, and have absolutely no complaints about the B&B - lovely room, comfortable bed, super breakfast and very friendly staff - everything you want from a B&B really! You should be
aware that it's a little out of the centre, but is walkable on a nice
day, albeit much easier if going downhill into Bath - we however travelled into town by taxi (there were 4 of us) for about £6 or £7.
This shouldn't reflect badly on Cranleigh though, and it's a great place to explore Bath and the surrounding area from - thoroughly recommended.
