“Travelodge Bath”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Well maintained hotel. Hotel staff are very friendly and welcoming. Good provisions for disabled. Over all clean and good rooms. Highly recommended.
Outside road works caused immense problems using Sat-Nav. Perhaps hotel directions should include warning about road works just outside hotel.

Fist the positives, The location is convenient and attractive. The rooms are clean, reasonably comfotable and spacious. The breakfast buffet was also reasonable.

However, I don't expect to see rather scruffy staff smoking at the main entrance. In fact, with one exception, most of the staff appeared to have slept in their uniforms and were not particularly welcoming.

At breakfast, we were greated by an untidy young man with greasy hair who said that we had not paid and prebooked breakfast. After some debate, he discovered that we had. No apology, just "I'm tired" He progessed to checking the buffet from time to time, all the while scratcthing his greasy head.

The last incident was the killer. We paid for overnight parking and just managed to get about the last slot in a poorly lit parking area. Imagine my rage to find in the morning a £60 penalty ticket on the car, because one wheel was just over a barely visible bay marking which was mostly obscured by a heavy deposit of leaves. The markings are vitrtually invisible in the dark, and I had parked equidistant between cars parked on either side so as allow access. The ticket was issued at 6.24 am by the company contracted to the Travelodge, and I am still in dispute with them.
All in all, not a good experience at London prices, and I will revert to the Holiday Inn Express on future visits.

.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing the very busy main road.

A disappointing experience this time. I have stayed here before and it has been without any problems but this time, there was a strong odour coming from the bathroom plumbing, the net curtain was held up by sellotape, the lighting was very dim, the bedside lamp was broken and the was a patch of damp in the corner of the bedroom. I thought the rooms were supposed to be going through an updating process - this room definitely has not!!!

On my arrival with several pieces of luggage told that my room wouldn't be ready til 3, and it wasn't company policy to be able to leave it anywhere . Faced with going to a formal event that afternoon with luggage in tow, and carrying it around it the city, I paid up for 'early checkin'. Then my room waas magically ready immediately after all. Very irritating. next day had to checkout at 12 then sit with my luggage in a station cafe for 21/2 hours to wait for the train as I couldn't carry it.
So if you are booking this hotel for it's convenience to the railway, be wary. I certainly will avoid in future.
On the plus side, the staff were all absolutely great. They must have to deal with a lot of grumpy customers, but they remained cheerful throughout.

We have stayed here several times as it is handy for the rail station and quite central for walking into the City Centre. Walk takes about 15 minutes alongside the river. If there is a slight downside, when we went to eat in the bar area, there were still dirty glasses on tables from lunchtime

Room Tip: Rooms to the left of Reception are quiet

Does what it says on the tin. Perfect location, nice staff, good food and clean rooms. Can't really fault it and for £32 per night... Parking is £5 per day which is a bit naughty unless you are disabled and it's free otherwise great. Why do I have to keep writing?
