To celebrate my Mum and Dad's 70th and 75th birthday's respectively my sister and I organised a family trip to Bath. We were two OAP's, three 40 somethings, my nephew (11) and my niece (8). But, whilst we covered a good age range, we all loved the Athole!

The youngsters loved the cat (Moth), the bar football and hot chocolate for breakfast. The rest of us loved the spacious and comfortable bedrooms, the fantastic selection for breakfast and (of course) Moth!

Everyone there, and Wolfgang in particular, makes you feel extremely welcome and not in that insincere way you get in some places.

The Athole is far enough outside Bath to be quiet and peaceful at night and close enough to walk to in around 15 minutes. The road from Bath is not that steep so unless members of your party are quite unsteady on their feet or in a wheelchair I cannot see the location being a problem.

Definately the best place (guest house, B&B or hotel) I have used in the UK.

We stayed here for two nights 30th-31st May 2008 in the deluxe family room and I can't find fault.
Wolfgang was very welcoming and helpful - nothing was too much trouble for him. The room was comfortable, large, with a flat screen TV, tea/coffee making facilities and the bathroom was sparkling with lovely fluffy towels on a heated towel rail, power shower, plenty of toiletries - nohting was missing.
The breakfast was extensive with no set time you needed to be down there - just anytime between 8.30 and 10.am. Breakfast freshly cooked with so much choice, you were hard put to eat everything.
Wolfgang and his wife Josephine always ready to chat after breakfast.
Lovely conservatory leading on to their pretty garden - we had great weather too. The cat was sitting outside our room each evening to greet us.
The walk into Bath was very pleasant and took around 15-20 minutes to reach the centre. We saw hot air balloons taking off one evening too.
Our children well catered for and welcomed as well.
Car parking is safe tucked off the road and we were welcome to leave our car there on the morning of our departure and pick it up later if we wanted.
Highly recommended and I can't imagine you would find many places in England to top the service and quality of accommodation we received - English Bed and Breakfast at its best in one of the most beautiful cities in Britain.

We also booked two restaurants before we arrived - Sally Lunns and The Walrus and Carpenter and would recommend these establishments for reasonably priced tasty food.

This was the first place we stayed during our 2 weeks in England and we wish we could have stayed longer! The rooms were spotless with huge bathrooms. We even had flat screen TVs. Moth (the cat) enjoys welcoming everyone, just watch you don't accidentally lock him in your room :) Breakfasts were incredible! Fresh baked bread, homemade yogurt, museli and made to order eggs. Chris & Sharon were wonderful cooks (try the mushroom omlette) and very knowledgeable about Bath. They totally spoiled us! For the rest of our trip, we expected other places to be like Athole House and nothing could compare. We can't wait to go back!

Fabulous, friendly guest house with a real focus on service. If you are looking for a relaxing break with great breakfasts and comfortable, clean accommodation you will not be dissapointed. The conservatory with friends tops off this excellent guest house.

I just got back from a 3-week trip to the UK and this was definitely my favorite B&B from my trip. It's in a beautiful area, and a nice little walk from the city centre. Wolfgang is very friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast was amazing--I wish I could eat more in one sitting! Very quiet room, so I had a lovely sleep, and nice little extras that other B&Bs didn't have, like a small oscillating fan for air circulation, or hot chocolate packets instead of only tea and coffee; I was sad that I only stayed one night!
