“A Special Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2014

Spent one night in Bath in late July and stayed at the Abbey. Very nice accommodations, helpful front desk. The location is excellent since we were only blocks from the train station back to London. Also within comfortable walking distance to the Abbey and the Baths. We did not eat dinner there preferring to explore other venues in Bath, but thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. We had two rooms, one facing out toward the square and one with a not so good view out the back, but that was okay. Both were comfortable and clean and the beds were comfortable, as well. Would book there again and recommend to friends. As a preservationist, I liked how they reused the building to accommodate the hotel.

You just have to walk out the door and Bath is in your lap. There is a car park 2mins away and it's free from 8pm till 8am. Other times are pay parking all over the city. The hotel was undergoing winter refurbishments which meant the lift wasn't working, nor was the roof top bar open. However as the staff are so courteous, the rooms so pleasant and the food so good we didn't even blink an eyelid at the inconveniences. They allow you to leave your luggage in the hotel when you have checked out which was great for us. The hotel exhibits contemporary art which is a touch I liked. We had the wild mallard and bream as main courses and they were delicious. It makes such a difference when staff are pleasant, professional and friendly so I would like to commend them on that. Prices go up quite substantially later in the year,so would I stay there again? yes, but in the lower season.

Stayed at this hotel whilst on a business trip to Bath. The location is excellent, the rooms well appointed and breakfast was just what I like. Lovely hotel and highly reccommended. I would like to add that all the staff I encountered during my stay were all very professional and courteous.

Stayed at this hotel for the Christmas Market. The location for visiting Bath is excellent. The twin room we had was rather small but clean and fit for purpose. We enjoyed an excellent meal in the restaurant and the belly of pork is highly recommended. I would stay at this hotel again on my next visit to Bath.

We booked 3 rooms for the New Year package which included a black tie dinner at the Assembly rooms in Bath with live music and casino. The New Year celebrations were very enjoyable and in a fantastic building. Great choice!
The hotel is in an ideal place in Bath simply seconds from the Abbey, and the Roman Baths and the thermal spa. We went to all three over the 3 days. All worth a visit.
The hotel staff were friendly and the rooms were comfy. Some of the décor look a little tied - ie the lift, but there is artwork everywhere which adds to the comfy feel of the place.
The breakfast and evening meals were excellent - 5 stars
And the Best thing was the Apres Ski chalet the hotel had built for Christmas just outside the hotel entrance including snow on the roof, mulled wine, schnapps, Austrian pastries and a large screen showing some amazing skiing stunts. Naturally we spent some time every day in there!
So we would recommend this hotel highly and would re-visited - especially next Christmas when hopefully they will have the Apres Ski Chalet up again!

Room Tip: All our rooms were on the second floor with 2 overlooking the front of the hotel which were better t...

My husband and i booked this 3 day break to visit bath xmas market and escape prior to the craziness that is christmas. Hotel staff were excellent. Very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and a good standard. Only down side was the ensuite let the room down. Was clean but tiles round bath were cracked and grout was discoloured.
Breakfast was lovely and there was plenty of it. Set us up for the days shopping and didnt need lunch. Will definitely return nrxt year.
