“A Cosy stay at the Kennard with great attention to detail.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

We only booked the Kennard a week before travelling.
We had a 2 day break divided up into site seeing as well as a spot of Christmas shopping.

The Kennard was the perfect location, only 5-10 minutes walk from the main attractions and shopping.
We arrived outside the hotel which was easy to find. We popped in with our case and was given a permit to put in the car to use for the 2 days and which gave us free parking. We did have to park a short walk from the hotel on the main street but it only took a few minutes to walk back.

The room was ready on the very top floor. Its quite a climb but wasnt a real problem as the views made up for it.

The room was small but very cosy and stylish decor. I loved the fact that everything I needed was there and the silver tea pot with Taylors tea was a real treat. The en suite was very clean and the molton brown tolietres really just continued those added touches.

We were given a map and guidance on tried and tested local restuarants and suggestions for our touristy bits we wanted to do.

The breakfast must be my highlight especially when I was greeted with freshly squeezed orange juice. The breakfast was special and cooked fresh to order. Nothing was too much trouble and it really set us up for the day.

This is a great place to spend a few days. A great location, Great accomodation, great service and I must mention again the breakfast.

Room Tip: The top floor has great views. But the stairs are 6 flights!

The Kennard is a dream come true for those of us who have a fanciful mental image of a charming little hotel and then spend countless hours trudging around the internet in search of the promise, only to be aghast when we click onto the actual photographs. Every little detail has been attended to and you feel all the comforts of (a well appointed) home. In the stylishly decorated rooms, there is space and a place for luggage, top notch toiletries, complimentary water, and a bed fit for a good night's sleep. The breakfast experience in the spectacular dining room starts your day off feeling like a guest of honour as the unprecedented choice of coffees are brought in individual cafetieres', a buffet of assorted goodies lays waiting while your choice of hot breakfast is prepared to order, and served up with a charming choice of chutneys and sauces. The walls are laden with art which invite you to linger on the stairwell and the garden requires you to stroll around then sit and take in its beauty and tranquility. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and our hosts made us feel that no request was too much trouble, and helpfully guided us in making the most of our time in Bath, and the location allowed us to get everywhere we wanted on foot. Picky as I am, I could not come up with anything that could be improved upon. Bravo!

Room Tip: We had the "room with the view", and though there are a lot of stairs involved, it was wor...

Good location in the heart of the city, just a couple of hundred yards from the shops - Really helpful to have loan of a parking permit. First class Breakfast which was more than we could eat. Stayed on the top floor (lots of steps). Perfect for visiting daughter at Bath University.

Such a warm welcome when we arrived. We were pleasantly surprised at the close proximity to the centre of Bath...... An easy 5 minute walk to the city centre and yet far enough away to be in a quiet neighborhood. Bath is such a beautiful city and after spending 2 nights here we really did appreciate how close we were to everything.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was delicious in the beautiful green dining room, with a large variety of teas and coffees on offer.
Our room was cosy, clean and comfortable although a little on the small side. And we were located on the top floor..... Which seemed like an endless amount of stairs, given that we had some large luggage....... Having said that, we were kindly given a hand to carry our luggage to our room.
I would certainly recommend the Kennard as a great place to stay while in Bath.

Room Tip: If you have large luggage with you, I would highly recommend trying to get a room on a lower floor.

From the moment we stepped into The Kennard it was obvious this was no normal hotel. It is lovely to find such an individual oasis amongst so many chain hotels where you could be anywhere in the world. The location, the rooms, the proprietors and the breakfast are outstanding, and I hope to return before too long.

We decided to stay at this hotel despite as young professionals it was a bit expensive. Very professional and welcoming couple who have created an excellent place to stay. The details put into this hotel is great, and as a faithful fan of coffee I was genuinely happy to see that they provided several types of coffee and tea beside a well above average breakfast. The room was nice with a good view over the city. The intérieur of this georgian townhouse is nice and next time we are back in bath we will probably try out the authentic old-fashion room (the modern rooms are also very good). I can really recommend this place!

Beautiful hotel, great welcome, very helpful with maps and directions. Breakfast divine and in such fine surroundings. Felt like a queen and king here. Happy to recommend to couples for a romantic stay or the extended family or business trip.
