“A memorable wedding anniversary.................”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2008

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! We couldn't have found a place more special stay for our wedding anniversary.

"Welcome to paradise" were the words we were greeted with on arrival and from the moment you walk through the door you can see why. This is a true hidden secret in Bath that you must experience. Peter and Barbara were truly magnificent hosts and he does the best cooked breakfasts and knows how to do a great poached egg and scrambled too! They are both friendly people, warm and welcoming and that means a lot today when hotel chains are cold and uninviting (something we have experienced elsewhere).

The room we had indeed had the best views over the city. We could see the Abbey and the Crescent and the Abbey looked magical when lit up at night. The bed was big and comfy with soft bedding and comfy pillows and bed side lamps that worked and created a cosy atmosphere in the room if you didn't want the room lights on. The bathroom was sheer luxury with a roll top bath big enough for 2 - ideal for relaxing in with some champagne after a day of sightseeing in Bath and dining out.

Nothing is too much trouble and the little touches really do mean this hotel stands out above many others that we have stayed in and we will definitely be going back here, it is very special and very magical and romantic. From Molton Brown products in the room, fresh Milk for tea and coffee and wonderful robes to relax in - it truly is a little piece of paradise to help you get away from it all. It is as good if not better than how it looks in the photos.

A resident cat, George, was also available for fusses too whilst missing our furry friends at home!

Highly recommend this as a place to stay - It is very special indeed and we can't wait to go back!

“Excellent accommodation and fantastic view of Bath”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2008

We loved this place and would definitely return.

The staff were incredibly helpful, we had to change our dates at short notice when most of the rooms were booked so they upgraded our room at no extra charge to fit us in.

The room was immaculate with attention to detail in it's presentation, the bathroom was very stylish, there was a nice little tea and coffee tray with cafetiere and mini flapjacks.

The view from our window (or standing out in the garden) was fantastic, you can see the whole town centre.

There is a house cat which is friendly and cute.

The breakfast selection had everything we needed to set us up for the day and the cooked breakfasts (esp the veggie one) are very tasty.

The walk in to town took less than 10 minutes, down a hill and through an underpass. Some people have said they thought the area was "dodgy", but we didn't think it was at all - it depends what you are used to. Yes, the hill is quite steep, but it's not very long and it's a fair price to pay for the views you get once you're at the hotel.

The parking was free and the place was easy to find which is not always the case if you stay in the centre.

All in all we thought it was good value for money, especially the 3 nights for 2 midweek offer. Just bear in mind that it's more of a B&B than a hotel, so you're paying for character and homeliness rather than faceless megacorp with massive rooms and slick service - if that's what you're looking for then go to the Hilton - but that's not what Bath is all about.

“A Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2008

We stayed 3 nights at the Paradise Hotel and were impressed with the service we received from the managers Peter & Barbara (who had only been there for 3 weeks!). The location is good, a 10 or so minute walk into the city with a short taxi ride back (or a slightly longer walk back up a steep hill); the views towards the city were fantastic from the beautiful garden. The cooked breakfasts were excellent, including a vegetarian option too.

A lovely drawing room with books, magazines & games overlooked the garden, and also included free internet access at anytime via the laptop.

The only criticism we had (hence not issuing 5 stars) was of our bathroom, the shower in particular wasn't the best, however, we were shown the other rooms that had all been given a makeover this year and were informed 'our room' would be refurbished in January 2009. Those updated rooms looked fantastic, (one included a stand alone roll topped bath & separate shower) and had the great views towards the city.

In short, we'd have no hesitation in returning next year, ensuring we'd stay in an upgraded room

“Truly Exceptional”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2008

We have recently returned from a three night break at Paradise House Hotel and can honestly say we were truly sad to leave this charming, friendly and elegant hotel.

Everything was perfect, the location, the views, the room, the garden, the breakfasts and most importantly the wonderful staff.

The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the city centre and railway station and easy to find. Guests with limited mobility may prefer to get a taxi from the station or city centre as the hotel is on rather a steep hill (totally worth it for the views though). I found the area to be very quiet at night which was a bonus as we like to sleep with the window open.

We were in room 4 at the very top of the house with fabulous views across the city particularly the Royal Crescent and Bath Abbey and also the beautiful hotel gardens. The room was very prettily decorated and all the rooms are different so that we felt almost as if we were staying in a private house. The bed was 6ft wide, wonderfully comfortable with very good quality linens. There were tea and coffee making facilities which are replenished daily and in addition you can ask for more at any time, they also provide a flask of real milk rather than the little UHT pots. This room has a large bathroom with a window looking out to the woods opposite the hotel. There is a bath with a full shower over the shower being both powerful and easily adjustable for temperature. Worth mentioning are the wonderful full sized Molten Brown products in the bathroom.

Breakfast is served in the breakfast room and sitting room, there is a self serve area with cereal, fruit, yoghurt and juices, then one of the staff take your order for either continental breakfast or a hot breakfast, tea/coffee, and toast. The breakfasts are cooked to order with a choice of Full English, Vegetarian Full English or scrambled eggs with smoked salmon.

We found all of the staff to be very friendly and helpful, and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to anyone and we hope to return as soon as possible.

“Perfect - Just what we wanted”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2008

I stayed at the the Paradise Hotel in Late May 2008. I booked a room for my parents and for myself.

It is a short stroll downhill (10min or so) into Bath city centre and a quick taxi ride back.

We found the hotel to be bang on in terms of service, location and atmosphere. The staff was attentive without being overbearing and the breakfast very nice. The garden is exquisite and the view of Bath is lovely. I would definately recommend this hotel.
