We've just returned from a 3 night stay here. It was a mixed bag overall.
The location was excellent, literally 5 minutes to baths, the same to the train stadtion, even less to Sally Lunn's bun house. It was also a beautiful building, and on a fairly quiet street. We recieved a friendly reception, letting us store our bags a we arrived early, and giving us advice on where to get some good food. We enjoyed the size of the room, the beds were large, the windows beautiful. Everything worked, which was important.
On the downside, the room was very tired. There were stains on the towels and some of the bedsheets. The shower was temperamental and low on pressure. The creaking floorboards in the corridor caused a lot of noise, especially in the evening and morning. There was an odd smell about the place, like cheap microwave meals. And £2 for a bottle of water was a little excessive.
I think, with the location, the beautiful building and the friendly staff, that this could be an amazing hotel, if it was given a huge refurb.
