“Incredible”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2014

Came to Bath with my partner and was recommended Hall and Woodhouse Bath by our bartender. The atmosphere was incredible and the staff were very accommodating. We had a bit of a wait for our food but it made no difference as the staff were so attentive and honest about it. The chef (I forget his name but he was Scottish and had glasses on) even came over to apologise for the delay and served our dish with a full explanation of the dish. Awesome food and brilliant service throughout!

“Serendipity....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

We happened upon this particular eatery by happy chance. The rain had started to come down a bit too heavy and we found ourselves standing outside the door; so in we went.

Lovely, busy, bustling place. Obviously favoured by the locals (we were on holiday) which always bodes well. The atmosphere was sparkling just like the chandeliers dotted about the place. Very modern shabby chic interior, which wasn't too over the top. TONS of space over three floors with, I believe, a roof terrace.

We had the fish and chips and the duck. Both scrummy. My better half said his meal was the best tasting fish and chips he'd ever had. Praise indeed! The duck wasn't the best I'd ever had but was lovely just the same. The creme brûlée was delicious too.

The only fly in the ointment was the display of utter arrogance from one diner to the lovely waiter at a nearby table. How he kept his cool we will never know. The lady (?) in question treated him like something from the bottom of her shoe. Disgusting behaviour. Yes, YOU, know who you are.

Our waitress was happy, smiley and couldn't do enough to make us comfortable. Truly great customer service. Loved it here and would recommend it.

“Great venue, and service but slightly pricey for average food!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014

We ate lunch here on a very busy Saturday Easter weekend. The venue is extremely characterful and well done. Great atmosphere as it was full of diners. Our waitress was lovely, and couldn't have delivered better service. We ordered a burger and fries and 3 tapas dishes. Portion sizes were fine, and the food was nice. However, prices were slightly at the top end for what we had. We did enjoy our visit and would rate as good!

“Really enjoyable Easter Sunday lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014

My husband and I visited Hall & Woodhouse on Easter Sunday for an impromptu lunch. I have to say, the service was excellent throughout our visit although granted the restaurant was probably only 1/3 full. The guy who seated us was very professional and suggested different drinks and meals for us. The food (roast beef and roast chicken) came within 5 minutes and was delicious. We then had a pudding (crème brulee) to share which was equally good. The waitress who took over looking after us was great – very quick and polite and we were asked halfway through our meal if we were enjoying it. The décor inside the restaurant is gorgeous and we can’t wait to visit again perhaps with a group or with our children.

“Very average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

Firstly, whoever designed this place is very talented; the decor is really lovely.
However, I felt I must leave a review because the food was distinctly average. The starter I asked to be modified was "freshly made this morning" - an oxymoron if ever I heard one at 7:30pm. So I had to order a different starter. The pork was under seasoned and came with one small piece of cremated toast.
The main was better, but only slightly. The venison shank pie was lacking in pastry and vegetables and the meat was very fatty. It sort of tasted like it had been defrosted.
Service was acceptable and vegetables with the pie were nice - but overall very underwhelming., and overpriced for the quality of the food. We won't be returning.
