“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

I visited Bath and spent two nights at the Halcyon hotel. The hotel is situated in a brilliant central location for visiting Bath and all its attractions. The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly, the hotel was tastefully decorated and the food very nice. Was a bit dissappointed with the tiny room though, also i would not recommend staying here if you are a light sleeper as the noise from the late night partygoers spilling out onto the street below from the bars and clubs is very loud. I love the city of Bath and would certainly stay at the Halcyon again.

Room Tip: I would advise not booking a room on the top floor as the hotel has no lift and there are alot of st...

Admittedly this hotel has a fabulous location in Bath. It is within walking distance of all the major sites, restaurants & shops. There is also public parking available (for an additional fee) close by. However, our room, 3.5, was extremely small, had a small window with no view, no closet, no drawers and no chair (only place to sit was the bed). Heat rises & since we were on the 3rd floor perhaps our room was warmer than others below but there was no AC only a fan. Since we only had one window I propped the hall door open to have some cross ventilation. We were not disturbed by noise from the surrounding streets. The friendly staff carried our luggage up the 3 flights of steep stairs (no lift) and even cautioned that we should use the back stairs because the front stairs were so steep. The bathroom was also extremely small but it was modern & clean. Americans don't forget to bring your own face cloth!
Other reviews have indicated satisfaction with rooms so perhaps if you discuss room location & size with the management when you reserve a room you will be happier with the value.
The Sotto Sotto Ristaurante was around the corner & was fabulous!

Room Tip: If you have any mobility issues you need to tell management when you reserve your room.

This hotel is a great find, well positioned for the centre of Bath, stylish, smart and incredibly friendly. The rooms are contemporary and stylish, while also being very comfortable. The Circo Bar in the basement is trendy and lively with great cocktails and wine and a friendly vibe. It turns into a cool breakfast venue in the morning. The staff were so friendly and helpful too which was great as they could help with the luggage to the 3rd floor as there is no lift

Room Tip: If you can't manage steepish stairs with your luggage, ask for a lower floor. The rooms were qui...

We stayed for 2 nights, was extremeley comfortable and welcoming - especially Sophie and Anna who looked after us and made sure we had everything we needed.

Gorgeous ample room and lovely hot shower. So close to Bath city centre as well and we thought parking might be a nightmare but nope, carpark opposite was perfect and no trouble at all.

Room Tip: We had a room at the back of the hotel so the nightclub wasnt an issue and we had a Studio room so h...

A quirky, well priced boutique hotel. I booked this hotel as treat for my friend's birthday. We both like the finer things in life and had considered some grander and pricier hotels in Bath but I am glad we made the decision to stay somewhere with a more contemporary feel, at a great price, and save our money to treat ourselves to exceptional meals and shopping! The Halcyon is also ideally located for the many shops, sights and transport. It is 30 seconds to the nearest car park, and less than 5 to the South gate bath car park where we parked. Less than 2 minutes to the nearest shops and to the Abbey. Great for being able to drop bags off mid-shopping! The station is also less than 5 minutes walk away.
The hotel itself is modern and well-kept with extremely helpful staff. We booked a studio twin room (1.2) this is at the front of the hotel and was very quiet but then we stayed Sunday and Monday so there were no revellers. We booked this room primarily to give us extra space but it was still a compact room. This was fine with us however as the room was just a base albeit a well decorated and comfortable one. The shower was superb and the White company products, a nice touch. The studio room did mean we had a kitchenette in a cupboard, with toaster, tea making facilities, microwave, sink and fridge. All a great idea however we only used the kettle for morning tea. Breakfast was lovely both mornings. There was a good range of tea's with coffee available too. Toast, pastries, ham and cheese, boiled eggs, cereals, jams's and marmalades and fresh fruit. The room was comfortable with a variety of chairs and corners to sit in so you could hide away and feel like you were having a private breakfast. We both said we would definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to others. An added note: We had a marvellous meal at the Bath Priory hotel with the money we saved staying at The Halcyon. We highly recommend it. We also had afternoon tea in the Assembly rooms which was fun and delicious. We hadn't booked but heard other people saying they had so that might be worth doing on busy days and times of year.
As per other reviews if you have requests regarding rooms or facilities, the staff will pull out all the stops to help you. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: 1.2 is front facing onto a small road. Was warm but had a fan. Quite compact with good size bathroom...

I stayed with my daughter for 3 nights. She is an undergrad at Bath University and we had the best of times. The satff is really helpful, friendly and efficient and the atmosphere relaxed so we felt at home in no time. The rooms are modern and well furnished, all in all very comfortable and for those who care about style it is decorated with excellent taste. It is also conveniently located and the food is delicious so for those few days The Halcyon became our irreplaceable head quarters. An allround YES

Our stay at the Halcyon was nothing short of fantastic. My partner booked the stay for my birthday and upon arrival not only had we been upgraded, a birthday card had been placed on the bed. Such a wonderful touch.

The staff were so incredibly welcoming and helpful. They offered so much assistance if we needed it, without being too over the top. The room was spacious, of a great standard and beautiful bathroom. The shower was superb.

Breakfast was served in the Circo bar in the basement and was more than a continental breakfast. And again, the surroundings stylish and staff smiley, friendly and helpful. We wished we had gone to the bar the night before for cocktails - imagine it's fantastic.

Would definitely recommend the hotel and we will definitely return if staying in Bath again.
