“A year on!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

We've just come back from Lucca in Italy for our wedding anniversary and managed to write our first TripAdvisor review, after promising Natalie we would do so after last year's anniversary trip to 55a North. Many apologies for the delay Natalie, but it seems you are still providing the fabulous service and personal touch we experienced judging by the latest reviews! We had a truly memorable trip and, as everyone else has mentioned, Natalie and Guy are the perfect hosts with a very laid back, casual approach, which puts you at ease straight away.

Even though the B&B is a bus ride (or a long walk up the long hill!) out of Bath, it is in a very interesting and historic area, so the hop-on, hop-off tourist bus passes the end of the road (I wonder if we are still the only people to get on at that stop?!).

We will always have fond memories of our Bath experience with Natalie and Guy being an indelible part of them and would highly recommend you to them. The log store was a real highlight!!

My sister and I wanted a get away from the hum-drum of life and just relax, and we could not have chosen a better place.

In all honesty, we have been in two minds about writing this review....because really we wanted to keep this hush-hush, and not share. Yes, it's that good!

Natalie and Guy, our hosts, were more than just welcoming. They truly took the B&B experience to another level. From the moment we booked, the welcoming emails and detailed information with directions are no doubt signs of good inn-keepers, but the pots of tea (of choice, and Natalie has a good selection) with homemade strawberry crumble cake, were a lovely touch.

The room was immaculate, and incredibly comfortable, with plenty of guides of bath and the surrounding areas, dvds and books...just incase one left their light reading at home.
There was nothing that had not been thought of, including a very well equipped kitchenette with some lovely surprises.

Once we had refreshed with tea, Guy gave us a lift into town, again a wonderful touch.

As is seemingly obviously, there is nothing more one could ask for! Superb. We will be visiting again soon!

Had a lovely night's stay here. Nothing was too much trouble for Natalie and Guy, the proprietors. My friend and I stayed in the twin room, which includes a little kitchenette. It was perfect - really nicely designed throughout and a great mix of tasteful modern design, plus a couple of antique pieces of furniture. On arrival we had a warm welcome from our hosts. Natalie had baked a cake and we had a choice of teas/fresh coffee. The couple dropped us into the city centre for some retail therapy. Ditto the following morning, this time to drop us off at Thermae Bath Spa. N and G recommended a pub up the road for supper, which was excellent, too. And just a short walk from their B&B. A***

I should actually not write this review and keep this place a secret. 55a North is such a relaxing and enjoyable B&B! the double room is lovely, big, airy and perfectly equipped. The breakfast is extraordinary. Name it and you'll get it. On our last day, we got the best packed breakfasts we could imagine. But the most important is Natalie and Guy who own the place. They are the best hosts ever - friendly and caring, will not only respond to requests, but are proactive and have an amazing attention to details, and at the same time will not intrude in any way. The location is a bit out of town, so perhaps not ideal for the extreme festive visitor, but there is a direct bus to the center, and, even better, Natalie and Guy will give you a lift more or less whenever needed. I would go back to Bath just to stay at55a North again!

I looked at a number of B&B's for a one-night stay and think we got the best one! The photos do truely represent an excellently furnished, comfy, boutique-style hotel room. I only needed a Sunday night stay as I was taking my mother to Bath Spa on the Monday and Natalie was happy to accommodate my request. We arrived on a wet day to a warm welcome and coffee & cake (that was the first of many little extras that really make the difference).
Natalies taxi service seems to be the norm looking at previous reviews and although we didn't have the breakfast, our little kitchen was supplied with fresh milk, coffee and super little biscuits (and chocolate!).
Very comfy beds which we wished we could have stayed in for another night. Supa dupa accomodation, well done Natalie & Guy xx

Thank you so much to Natalie and Guy for making our weekend trip to Bath all the more memorable. What a gorgeous little B&B, complete with everything we needed. The extra touches were great; the complimentary biscuits and wine in the kitchen upon arrival along with the fantastic selection of DVDs all made our stay that extra bit special. A fantastic place to stay if you are looking for privacy and quiet - still only a small way away from the city centre.
Thanks for a great weekend!
