“Lovely room, lovely host and easy walk into Bath”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2011

I stayed in the downstairs twin room with a friend and loved it! The room was clean, nicely decorated and big enough to eat, sleep and relax in. There were also lots of nice touches (bottle of wine on arrival, magazines, dvds etc). Although you couldn't cook a meal in the kitchen, the microwave, kettle, crockery and cutlery were definitely enough to feed yourself. We made and ate breakfast in the room and it was perfect for that.

The family who own it are really friendly and helpful (recommending places for dinner, offering to take us to the station and into town etc).

Although slightly outside Bath town centre, it only took us 20 minutes to walk so it wasn't inconvenient at all. The walk back is uphill and quite steep so perhaps not ideal for everyone. A taxi ride cost about £8.

I would certainly recommend it for a weekend (or long weekend).

We both highly recommend Firs Field House, as we had such an enjoyable stay. Our room was stylish and comfortable, with excellent facilities, but it was Natalie who made the experience an exceptional one. Natalie was genuinely warm and friendly, and went out of her way to help make our holiday special, without being intrusive. She recommended places to eat, things to see and do, and even took us into Bath herself. Natalie is a great cook, and breakfast was wonderful, as were the really nice touches such as a drink and piece of cake when we arrived. This was a standout during our month in the UK, and we would deffinietly stay here again. Thanks to Natalie for getting our holiday off to a great start.

We booked 55a North Road because of the Trip Advisor reviews and the Alastair Sawday recommendation, and we were very glad we did! Arriving quite late on the Friday we had a lovely warm welcome from Natalie, who brought wine and crisps to our room as we settled in.

The room was beautiful and spotlessly clean, and the breakfast was amazing, lots of options to choose from and delivered in stages so nothing gets cold. These little touches make all the difference, and Natalie and Guy were incredibly helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they gave us a lift into Bath both mornings. It was blissfully quiet in the evenings and made such a nice change from some of the hotels we've stayed in, where door slamming and loud conversations filter through all walls!

It's obvious that Natalie & Guy have put a lot of thought into what makes a relaxing break, and with 55a they've created something very special, I really can't recommend this place enough.

Room Tip: We stayed in the double, with it's own entrance - it was lovely and light in the mornings, but b...

Not one for the usual B&B's but based on the reviews just had to try. Cannot be faulted - excellent service, room and location. Very good for relaxing and enjoying a chill out weekend. Breakfast is ti doe for - highly recommended - 6 stars ******

Room Tip: Both are great - summer months downstairs have doors to the courtyard to sit in.

We stayed in Bath for a friends house warming and chose 55a North Road as it was right around the corner, but regardless of our reason for going to bath we will stay here again.

This really is a top quality B&B. Plenty of space, your own entrance, lovely comfortable bed and top class shower room.

There is also a microwave, fridge and sink for basic cooking/tea and coffee making, ideal for a weekend away.

All facilities are kept clean and to the highest standard.

It's a good 15 min walk to town, but for the money I'd prefer to stay here and get the odd taxi/bus than roughing it or paying over the odds in town, and Guy & Natalie also offered to drop us off in town if we preferred.

Whilst making sure we had everything we needed, the owners managed to make us feel at home, without overcrowding us.

To sum up we will be back!

Natalie & Guy made our short break in Bath a wonderful experience, with a beautiful room and gorgeous breakfast. Every attention to detail has been considered - the tea and cake on arrival was a lovely touch as was the offer to give us a lift in to the city centre on both days! I would thoroughly recommend the b&b to family and friends and look forward to returning in the future!
