Description: Situated around the corner from The Royal Crescent, The Marlborough Tavern combines the atmosphere of a local pub with the quality of a top restaurant. Two AA rosettes, a horde of local & national awards plus inclusions in The Michelin Guide and Good Food Guide bear testimony to their consistent delivery of high quality cooking. They have a clear approach to food find the best and freshest ingredients and to create great tasting, essentially simple dishes where the quality of the produce speaks for itself. Married to that is a passion for inventiveness that sees the menu constantly changing. Food is essentially though not slavishly English in character and takes advantage of locally sourced produce wherever possible. The lunchtime menu features a range of lighter dishes and sharing plates plus some traditional pub classics - and the Sunday roasts are legendary. Their food reputation is matched by their service always friendly and attentive without being intrusive. They have an extensive wine list and selection of local ales, and they can mix a mean cocktail too. Outside they boast what is arguably Baths finest pub garden; a walled courtyard space, its perfect for summertime lunching and drinking.

“Excellent Sunday lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2014

Having researched online for the best Sunday lunch the Marlborough Tavern came highly recommended and we were not let down. My chicken was perfectly cooked and the accompanying apricot stuffing was delicious. My friend had what he said was the best pork belly he had ever eaten, complete with a fabulous pork crackling "straw". The accompanying vegetables were all cooked to perfection with the exception of our carrots (massive an undercooked) but a minor complaint in what was otherwise a perfect meal. The staff were absolutely lovely and they make a mean bloody mary too. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Bath. Highly recommended.

“Perfect meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2014

Our meal was outstanding - so happy to have a vegetarian choice which was not the usual cheese tart. I thought the main course was excellent and the puddings were to die for. The wine was perfect and the atmosphere relaxed which was a bonus as we had a five year old with us. She particularly enjoyed the fish and chips and ice cream. We had no booking on a busy Sunday but we were found a table and the front of house staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful. I will definitely return to The Marlborough Tavern the next time I'm in Bath.

“special diet catered for in style”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2014

we arrived at the tavern and were greeted by friendly staff. I am a difficult person to cater for being on a dairy and wheat free diet but nothing was too much trouble. The chef prepared a beautiful meal (top restaurant class) and we would have stayed for pudding if we could have fitted it in! we will return on our next visit to Bath. cant wait!

The food was delicious. I really enjoyed my meal. I liked the games. It was nice to see other children there. Granny and me had a great time.

“Excellent service and great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014

We had our rehearsal dinner at the Marlborough on a Friday before our wedding in Bath in mid March and it was fantastic.... 54 portions of the best fish, chips and champagne you could ask for. The service was great and it really started our special weekend in the best possible way. Nothing was too much trouble and they really went out of their way to make sure that everyone had a great time.... Guinness was superb as well!!
