I have visited several times and always feel this is one of the best restaurants in Bath. Staff attentive and atmosphere friendly. Excellent French cuisine with all the usual favourites.

“Excellent Bistrot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

Snuck into Casanis early evening during the Christmas Market Weekend. Had a lovely meal for one with pleasant service. The pre-theatre menu was a tremendous value and excellent quality right down to the fresh bread. I had the seafood pie (pictured) which was tasty and the dessert (pictured) was exceptional, this coming from a guy who rarely orders dessert. Book a reservation in advance as it fills up quickly.

“Perfect small wedding reception venue!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

We celebrated our wedding at Casanis restaurant on 15th December, and cannot fault either the service or the quality of the food. All 26 of our guests made a point of commenting on how impressed they were that neither the quality of the food, or the service was compromised due to the numbers.

Furthermore, we have eaten at Casanis restaurant as a couple prior to booking our reception there, and the quality has been consistent.

The interior has been sympathetically decorated, with a comfortable yet stylish French authenticity that many other venues never manage to achieve. The table settings are very elegant with crisp white linens, polished cutlery, and sprigs of lavender.

Among our guests were some rather discerning food enthusiasts - each of them raving about their menu choices. In particular, the crab terrine and pigeon tart were simply delicious!

Don't hesitate to dine here if you're looking for authentic, high quality French cuisine in a romantic setting.

“Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

Felt compelled to temper people's expectations after eating dinner here based on the Trip Advisor reviews. The food is average at best: the terrine and ravioli starters were okay, the risotto was undercooked and a bit bland, and every dish came with a piece of bread shoehorned into it, including the fish of the day which was bizarrely served like an open-face sandwich but with the bread on top. We were particularly irritated by the fact that we were told that we could only get a reservation for 6 pm, and yet we were the only people on the ground floor until 8 pm. Kudos for the vintage glassware though – the tap water came in a cool-looking decanter.

This is an interesting 'review' as it seems to describe dishes that we do not serve. At Casanis we do serve terrine and ravioli as a starter (the terrine comes with toasted brioche, the Ravioli does not). But we do not serve any main dishes with bread. We do not, never have and never would serve a fish dish with bread on top, although a Bouillabaisse fish stew might come with an Aioli or Brandade crouton. Our Risotto comes with a Parmesan Crisp. There's no bread. An open faced fish sandwich sounds amusing, but honestly is something we have never tried here....yet! Perhaps the irritation of not being able to get a later booking has affected the memory of the dishes you ate here? Either way, sorry you didn't enjoy yourselves.

“Relaxed quality dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

We took our daughter for a celebratory meal with her fiance and were not disappointed. The staff were attentive, the menu varied suiting us very well. The dishes were excellent, each of us were envious of the other's choices. The atmosphere was calm although the restaurant was full. We had a lovely evening...a very enjoyable experience....... to be repeated..
