“Inventive and delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

I was almost put off going to The Acorn, as Demuths is now called, by the recent reviews here which said it was cramped and the music was too loud. Who would want to go somewhere like that? However, we decided to poke our heads in because the aromas from the restaurant were so inviting, and we found a cosy little place with a convivial atmosphere. The music was playing unobtrusively in the background and the waiting staff were buzzing around, very friendly.

We were seated downstairs. The menu was full of unusual combinations of flavours and the food lived up to the descriptions. I had griddled squash with pea purée, which came with a myriad of extra additions including a mint granita. The combination of the hot squash and the frozen granita was really exciting - someone has gone to a lot of trouble to create this food and I'm so glad we didn't miss out on it.

The service was friendly and the waiting staff knew the menu well, explaining the more obscure ingredients to us when we ordered. Don't skip dessert - they are superb. I had the roast peaches. Wonderful.

I'm not a vegetarian but I love this kind of food. It's imaginative, healthy and delicious. Give it a try.

We had waited twelve years to go back and were not disappointed. Extremely enjoyable with helpful staff.

“It's the Acorn isn't it?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

Very good, quite expensive, inventive vegitarian, just around the corner from Bath Abbey.

Go on the 10:30 free, guided walk that meets up just outside the Abbey and ask you guide to tell you how to get to lunch at this restaurant as soon as the tour is over. (12:30)

You will have had an excellent day so far in Bath.

The corgette flowers are as delicious as they are beautiful. The soups are all wonderful.

“Good, interesting veggie food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

We shared a tagine and a cheese cake dish, which went well together, and finished with a chocolate mousse that was so rich we should really have shared it. A nice relaxed atmosphere and some interesting menu choices - would definitely eat here again.

“Vegan-Friendly Eats”

Demuths-- now called Acorn Vegetarian Kitchen-- is great for veggies craving something gourmet and healthy. Our whole-foods meals were perfectly prepared, flavorful, and fresh.
