Earlier this Summer we hired a motorhome from Camper Hire UK in Somerset and I must say we had a really good time. This turned out to be a privately owned camper. We had never driven one before but the couple who owned it were so friendly, they couldn't have been more helpful. It had absolutely everything in it we needed

The reason we chose a motorhome rather than hotel or B & B was because we wanted to take the dog and this one was dog friendly. It seemed so much easier having her with us all the time and not having to worry about leaving her in the room when we went to breakfast etc. and not having to worry about taking her downstairs through the B & B etc to go outside for the necessary first thing in the morning and last thing at night walks.

We aimed to do a couple of days in Somerset and then move on to North Devon. The owners gave us a list of sites to visit locally - with suggestions for good ones with decent dog walks and good pubs nearby. In the end we spent most of our time in Somerset on Exmoor. it was mainly because they had provided such detailed info on what to do and what to see. We really enjoyed it.

Best places we found were:
Blue Anchor Bay for its lovely long bay and walking for dogs.
Exe Valley camp site is just lovely and we stayed there a few days - right by the river and good dog walk immediately from the site and a pub just across the road.
Dunster which has a fabulous castle and some really nice pubs and the lovely old Yarn Market building.
Tarr Steps with a lovely walk along the river and back to the pub for a cream tea.
We took a trip over to Cheddar too - a good site there for adults only too The Bridge Camp Site.
Just over the border into Devon were Lynton & Lynmouth with the cliffe railway - that takes dogs much to our surprise. We enjoyed exmoor and all the walks along the river valeys and the moors too.
