Description: La Lanterna is a small Italian Restaurant situated in Shrewsbury Town centre, in THE OLD VESTRY at the back of St. Julian's Church. It is a very busy restaurant , especially in the evenings and week-ends, so we recommend that you reserve your table in advance.

“Quality food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

I have been here a few times over the last couple of years, the latest being lunchtime today. Never been disappointed here, both mine and my husbands mains were delicious, my house wine lovely and my hubby's dessert was absolutely gorgeous ( he let me have some). The restaurant itself is small and quirky but this just adds atmosphere. Highly recommend, but probably best to book as busy.

“hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

We love la lanterna, whilst not regulars we have been enough time to know the food is never disappointing.

Go there and experience unique surroundings and cosy atmosphere well worth it .

“Speaking in Faith”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

La Lanterna is obviously very very good as it was full at lunchtime and we never got to sample the fabulously smelling meals. They very wisely stopped allowing people in as the wait would have been too much and the kitchen may not have coped....they obviously have standards. I'm sure this is a little gem, down stairs in the vestry, small, cosy, fabulous smells and a very warm and comfortable atmosphere. Restricted opening times so worth checking out and booking.

“A hidden Jewel in Shrewsbury's Crown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

Happened to walk past this charming little restaurant which is hidden in St Alkmunds Square. Decided a spot of lunch would be good and delighted that we stopped to try.
Inside a vestry of an old church the atmosphere was intimate and friendly. The waitress was friendly, the food was fresh ,quickly prepared and the price was outstanding.
Getting lost turned into an enjoyable experience. Positive a place to visit again.

“Excellent meal in very nice family restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We came here for a meal whilst on a 4 day trip to Shropshire. Whilst not being the easiest place to find if you are not familiar with Shrewbury I'm glad we made the effort as we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The restaurant itself is very small and intimate without feeling like you are being crammed in. Our meal was excellent & the staff very friendly. I would definately come here again if visiting Shropshire.
