“WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY PRESENT”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

Stayed at the feathers for 1 evening. We had a large room, but was quite cold. The bathroom was nice and clean. Overall I felt the experience was really good, the hotel façade is quite amazing. The floors are all creaky, and great to imagine all the ghosts of the past.

Maybe we were lucky, but we booked the Feathers almost last minute, and upon arrival were upgraded to a luxury four poster room, with spa bath in a bathroom the size of our lounge at home. That apart, the staff were efficient, friendly and always smiling, that only comes with hiring and training good people. The floors creaked and groaned as only a 400 year old building can do, which was strangely reassuring. We didnt spot the rumoured resident three ghosts which was equally reassuring! (but also a little disappointing)! The bar next to reception was cosy and had a log fire which was frequently attended to. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and coffee served in a pot left on the table, just how we like it. Overall, if we could go again tomorrow... Taxi !!!

Room Tip: Room 425 was huge and worth any additional cost, with spa bath, multi jet shower, four poster bed an...

The room was large and included comfortable four-poster bed, armchairs, window-seat, large jacuzzi-bath and separate shower cubicle. The staff were pleasant and the food at a meeting for twenty in the evening was very good and the breakfast quite acceptable.

The exterior at the front is delightfully old though much of what lurks behind is more modern extensions.

Car park small so might be full depending on the mix of guests at any one time.

Stayed for three nights b & b, clean large room, tea making facilities, biscuits and plenty of room in the bathroom.
Resteraunt staff were friendly and Alex was exceptional. Lovely log fires in lounge area and after a long day sightseeing it was really nice to sit in front of the log fire and read with a glass of wine !
Will go back in the summer, lovely oldy worldy atmosphere just right for a relaxing weekend.

Room Tip: we had side room in new part at back of hotel which was quiet, but may pay extra for front old room...

Firstly i have to thank the staff for being so warm , friendly and welcoming, when i arrived as part of a coach trip. We had a drink in the fabulous James the 1st room for starters, next to the Writing room and wow, how impressive was that!
I was hoping for a room at the front, which i did have, 241, and it was lovely.Warm, very comfortable bed, spacious bedroom and bathroom, loads of hot water, plenty of storage space etc. Always cleaned, and i could open the windows.
The character of this building is fabulous. It was a privelige to be able to stay there. Our meals were all so enjoyable with a great choice, and on our last night we had our evening meal in the impressive Prince Charles suite with a Murder Mystery which was really entertaining, and other things on previous nights.
Ludlow is a gem, with the castle, which you have to go down to the river and look up at, to realise how imposing it must have been. Also the church and museum, all a short walk away, and just to wander round is so relaxing and interesting with all the old houses.
The charm of The Feathers is the historic rooms, the uneven floors and the creaks as you walk about. I didnt want to use the lift, i wantedt to climb the stairs and just savour every moment there. I cant find fault with anything, all i know is, when i can, i have to go back. The website does not do it justice, you have to stay there to see for yourself. Thanks again, to all at The Feathers! You are a great team!

Thiis hotel is a blend of very old and new. Uneven floors, wonky windows and then the room we stayed in was part of the modern extension.
We enjoyed the bar and had a great mate night sitting chatting to other guests, while the night porter looked after us.
Upstairs two very old sitting rooms were great for reading the Sunday papers.
If you are visiting LUdlow then this is an excellent location with its own small car park.
