“Fine room, good location, good breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2011

The location of this B&B is very good, very central (although difficult to find as there is no sign - we had to drive around the town three times!). The rooms (in a small bungalow next to the owner's house), are average - small and quite old-fashioned, with tiny TVs and a slightly damp smell. Bathroom was fine, and the breakfast was very good, freshly cooked plus a cereal/fruit buffet. The owner was friendly enough. A bit of a mixed-bag really - I'd probably stay again if there were no other choices but otherwise would try to find somewhere else.

Stayed for 2 nights at Branlea, Ludlow. Beautiful town and excellent B & B., Central position and as an added bonus- car parking on the premises. A most enjoyable weekend made possible by a comfortable room, a garden to sit in, and a well presented breakfast that would put many expensive hotels to shame. Very good value indeed.

Room Tip: Book early.

Stayed here for just one night with my girlfriend. Lovely room with fab bathroom and really comfy bed. This place is ideally located just couple of minutes walk and you have the shops pubs etc. I believe the breakfast is fantastic but due to too much wine, we never rose in time!!!! Would recommend and hopefully return for that breakfast!!

P.S. Bless for the shoes anne!!!

We booked for 2 nights. After breakfast after first night, landlady said she had no reservation for us for 2nd night and was fully booked. Since we would not have booked for just one night, clear where fault was. OK, these things happen, though rarely in my experience. What followed was unforgivable. Were told that pub down road did rooms. There were B&Bs near Sommerfield (wherever that was). No effort to lift a phone and call round other B&Bs to help us out. It is not nice to be told you have nowhere to stay. It is much worse when person responsible does not give a damn (this was a month ago and I am still furious). Many thanks to TI in Ludlow who were brilliant and fixed us up in no time (and B&B owner never mentioned that TI could maybe help! We happened to walk past it.)

Otherwise: clean rooms in an extension. Good breakfast. Eccentric shower. Dictatorial note about parking in rooms.

Rooms are separate from the main house where breakfast is served. Breakfasts very good – nicely cooked full English breakfast, lovely fresh fruit. Previous comments are true, but I didn’t mind the odd spider. Everything was clean and the room and bathroom were very spacious.

The only negative was that we had the room with the roll-top bath; great if you like to bath but not so good if you prefer to shower. They did supply one of those shower attachments tho’ which works OK as long as you don’t turn the water up too high. I can imagine that it could be a bit cold in winter.

Room was very spacious, warm, comfortable and clean.

Breakfast was delicious especially the locally sourced Ludlow sausages.

Ideal location within easy walking distance of the historic town and its many visitor attractions.

Would recommend to everyone and we will be back!

We stayed here for two nights at the beginning of October. The lady who runs the place, Sue, is very nice and helpful and the bed in the room we stayed in was incredibly comfortable - I had the best night's sleep I'd had in ages. The central location is perfect for walking into town and close enough to Mr Underhills' to walk there too. Oh and the breakfasts were lovely although I would have liked more than one tiny sausage because they were so good!
Like the previous reviewer, I agree that there are some minor problems. The central heating is on a timer so the rooms were often very cold, particularly around 5pm when we came back from a day's sightseeing. There are cobwebs in some of the corners and there was no shower in our room - just a lovely rolltop bath which was very pleasant to soak in but a little inconvenient in the morning when in a hurry to get out and enjoy the day. The main annoyance for us was the fact that the main door leading into the guest accomodation and the other guests's doors all slam very loudly and rattle in the door frames. This often woke us very early in the morning or late at night as some guests came and went. I'm sure the problem could be fixed quite easily and I would suggest they look into this. All in all, a good stay though!
