“Excellent authentic food!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2013 via mobile

Very impressed with the standard of the food; very good quality and taste!! Only thing letting it down at present is the lack of customers. More people need to discover this place and go

“Good food but lacking atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

We have visited this restaurant twice, the first time to take advantage of their lunchtime offer of Pizzas for £5 which were excellent and the second to try out a more serious meal. The evening visit was very good. We had very interesting starters and main courses and the coffee was excellent. The problem was for much of the time we were the only customers and even when a few others arrived it was a bit lacking in atmosphere. The service is very friendly and efficient, but maybe more laughs and jokes would help. We have booked for a family pre Christmas meal and are hoping for more atmosphere then (we will be a larger group so will be bringing some of the atmosphere with us) I hope the restaurant does well, others in the location haven't lasted, the food is good enough for this one to succeed if it gets a bit busier. It needs something to make it stand out from other Italian restaurants in the city and the many other restaurants on London Road.

“Only average at very best”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

Went here with a group of friends the other week. The décor of the place is what I suppose you would expect from an Italian restaurant (with a token massive picture of Venice on the wall) but there wasn’t really much of an atmosphere unfortunately as we were the only patrons for the time we were there, although that isn’t really the fault of the people running the place.

Although there was nothing intrinsically wrong with the food I had there wasn’t really anything that made it stand out either and to be honest it wasn’t really anything that I couldn’t have made myself at home. The Caprino salad was just a pile of mixed leaves with a couple of pieces of cheese topped bread on top. Taste wise absolutely fine but nothing particularly memorable.

The fish that I had for main was nicely cooked and tasted ok but the side vegetables that came with it were definitely undercooked/on the hard side. Conversely there were several other people in the group who noted that portions of their meals were overcooked – in particular those who had ordered steak – and some of the pasta dishes definitely looked on the ‘sticky’ side.

I realise that a lot of the time it’s as much about the experience and the people you’re with as it is the food when eating out – especially when in a large group - but I still like there to be something special about what I’m eating…unfortunately not the case here. 2.5 stars would probably be the best choice for a rating here but seeing as that’s not an option it’ll have to be just the 2 stars.
