My daughter lives in Sheffield and is a regular at Amigos. This is the first time we've been to Urban Choola (which is just up on the corner where Amigos used to be, and run by the same people).
Authentic Indian Street food!? I don't know and can't really comment as I've not been to India. But I can tell you that this is really good food and amazing for the price, with choices slightly different to the norm.
Starters: ... we had: Gol gupa (small crispy puri balls that you fill with a spiced herb juice and accompaniments). Samosas (these are on steroids), Ragda Patties (potato cakes with yellow peas and chutney). All delicious and I'd never had anything like Gol gupa.
Mains: Karahi Lamb Thali (complete meal in itself with lots of dishes included and the meat serving larger than in most Thalis) ... Awadhi Lamb (creamy cashew nut sauce) ... King prawn massala. All were really tasty and enjoyed and mains come with rice (probably bit on small side for most men) and nan. The nans are really very, very good ... might be the best I've had.
Take your own alcohol.
We went 7ish on Friday night and they gave us a table as long as we vacated by 8:30. Others who turned up without booking were turned away.
This is good food at low prices, so it is busy and gets booked. So if you want to go, call them first.
