It's not the Staniforth Road bistro - but the one on Baslow Road, Totley, Sheffield.
Once a month on the first Saturday, I think, there is a Bistro night. It is local to where I live, so walking there was a bonus - no extra taxi fares!! AND it was free corkage - so when the 4 of us walked in with a bottle each and some port, we knew we were in for a good night!! As soon as we walked in - the atmosphere was lovely and warm. Candles around the whole room gave it a super glow and it felt so inviting. The staff were brilliant, very friendly, helpful and attentive. We sat at a large country house kitchen pine table with plenty of room. The food was fantastic. There is just a choice of 2 on each course, but the chef said he was open to any requests in advance. We all enjoyed every course. The steak was cooked to perfection and the reduction to die for. All ingredients are sourced locally - I think - and it depends to what is at it's best it seems, to what is on the menu. Which brings me to the chocolate tart! I am back in heaven remembering every taste. My colleagues had the cheese which was served on a large board, with lots of choice and imaginatively presented. Coffee is included and all this for £25 - well worth it. To top off such a magical night - we saw the meteor zoom past. At the time - we didn't realise what it was - wonder what we will get when we book next time?
