I love the Botancial gardens. It's small but well laid out and lots of things to explore, like the herb garden and the bear pit and dont forget to bring a few nuts for the squirrels. If you sit very still and persevere they'll even take them from your hand.
Obviously, this is nicer in good weather but the glasshouses are lovely and warm and have a great and unusual display of plants from different continents - all which are well signed. and informative There's an on site cafe for light refreshments with outside seating which is at a premium when it's sunny.
Overall it's a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning or afternoon with the children, or simply to walk hand in hand and get away from the hustle and bustle for a little while.
