This place offers good beer, great food, friendly service in a really pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. It's great for a lazy Sunday lunch, and the free soup with the roasts on Sunday is always tasty. Wish they wouldn't slice the meat quite so thin but that's a minor niggle.
On non-Sundays, the menu's good too, with plenty of variety and pies of the day too. We particularly enjoyed the pork sharing platter - it's was so generous it even defeated my ravenous boyfriend (who loves the food in here so much that he once ordered two starters). We've not had a single bad dish here. And often things are much better than they sound on the menu - the toffee brownie with banana milkshake didn't do much for me on paper, but a softy gooey caramel brownie with really really banana-ry milkshake was fantastic.
And there's no better way to round off the meal than with a couple of espresso martinis.
The only reason that we don't eat here every day (aside from the fact we couldn't afford to eat out every day!) is that we want it still to be a special treat!
