“Worth the visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013 via mobile

We visited here mid week for the first time on a reccomendation and its definitely somewhere we will visit again. Great for vegetarians. Waiters were very attentive. Food was perfectly cooked. What more can I say!

“Wonderful food, not so wonderful service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

Arrived on a Thursday evening for around the 4th time a couple of weeks ago to a very busy restaurant. There were four of us but they managed to squeeze us in luckily, to the only available table. We opted to share a bottle of house white wine of which we were allowed a taste of first, which was delicious and reasonably priced.

Upon ordering we were told to expect a bit of a wait due to them being so busy, which ended up being just over an hour, even though after about half an hour the restaurant started to empty. During this hour we were not offered any more drinks.

One redeeming feature was the bread, complimentary and oh so tasty, and served with a spicy tomato chilli dip which is absolutely delicious, however one portion was not enough between 5 of us to keep us satisfied for an hour.

The food almost, but not quite makes up for the poor service. The majority of my favourite of the meze dishes are found in the mixed grill (which comes with various meats such as lamb, meatballs, etc. and sides such as rice and hallumi). The meze work out relatively expensive if ordered individually (about £5-7 a dish), however by ordering the mixed grill it comes to a total of £16 (or £34 for two if you order the shared mixed grill which includes a couple of extra items). The quality is fantastic, and my friend and I were completely stuffed, too full to even contemplate a pudding.

Following the main we were waiting a while for plates to be served, and service wasn't particularly polite. I was disappointed this time round, as having been a couple of times before and really enjoyed it, this time was a let-down. Would probably return again, but earlier on in the week.

“Not bad, but not the best......”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

Visited last week as part of a table of 7 at 6pm in the hope of being able to access the 2 dishes for £12.95 deal. The Lokanta is clean and the staff are attentive, however, some things do get lost in translation..... one of the party ordered a vodka and diet coke to be served a diet coke (later charged as a Vodka and coke)... the starters were fine, lovely warm humous and the warm bread was fab !! The drinks were on the expensive side... now here comes my main gripe...although the place was empty they still took their time in getting our main courses... we eventually submitted and ordered a 2nd round of drinks, and then by some magic act the main courses appeared.... I know that old trick !! and its not appreciated... The mains were OK, maybe I just dont love Turkish food, how can you mix rice and potato's ? 5 of us had Sheesh Kebab and it could have done with some kind of sauce... overall, it was OK, but nothing special.... and the music can get on your nerves when its empty... Nice and clean, if you like Turkish you could do a lot worse...

“Great food and nice Turkish beer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

Sunday lunch for four in April. Starters including halloumi, hummus, taramasalata and mini meatballs (mitite kofte) .
Very filing and was happy to await my main course, which was grilled Sea Bass.
Relaxing visit and the second time I have been in the last two months.
I enjoyed a couple of the Efes Turkish beer (imported) - nice beer to wash the food down.

“Excellent local choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013 via mobile

It's ages since I've been here and the food remains excellent. Courgette Fritters not to be missed. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Sheffield. It was a Saturday night and full which was good to see and food came quickly from the kitchen.

Slightly eccentric service denies it the 5 stars - our waiter told us that the Taramasalata was unavailable and had been for weeks because it hadn't been delivered (benefit of truth but 'we've run out' might have been a better answer!). Also same waiter indulged in very enthusiastic table cleaning next to us as we were eating - glad they use such a powerful anti bac spray but it made the wine taste funny.
