My wife and I had another meal today at Le Bistrot Pierre, Sheffield - a spur-of-the-moment lunch decision, with a 30-minutes'-notice booking: "Of course, no problem!"
As always, a warm welcome, delicious food, attentive, friendly but unintrusive staff. Our starters: fried squid with roasted garlic mayonnaise - "Lovely!" - and a delicate, delicious baked Camembert with plum chutney that was just, wow. Main courses were the specials - sea-bass and a daube de boeuf (braised beef) in a rich sauce - with a glass of good house-wine each, then my wife had the frangipane with ginger ice-cream. All excellent. My two-course was £9.95, my wife's three-course, even with a £2+ supplement, £14.45 (plus the wine & coffee). Quality food in a pleasant, relaxed setting, for less than £5 a course? As ever, reliably superb.
