Located within easy distance for the city ....Parking is across the road at Eyre street, where we got a token and took it to reception on departure to claim the discount for 24 hours parking.
The hotel is a multi floor building with spacious lifts...The entrance/reception had 3 desk open when we arrived, the staff were prompt efficient with good customer interactions. We were at first allocated a room, which I declined as it was one on the angle of the building and was an odd shape.. (quite claustrophobic). My husband returned to reception to ask for a different room to be allocated to us, (even though the receptionist told him clearly they had very few available due to a coach party coming in) we were given room 403 on the 4th floor.....A wonderful light airy double windowed room over looking the main street and up towards the city centre/shops etc. We thanked the receptionist, and made the point ,as we were full paying guests this room was more what we expected. A few negatives unfortunately......no fridge, no biscuits, no face clothes, no pen and paper, minimal toiletries, no drawers...but very clean , tea/coffee and etc. and a wonderfully comfortable bed.......A shower , no bath.....Internet is available at £5 an hour or £10 for 24 hours in your room, 1 hour free in the bar area when you purchase a drink...''.shame the internet isn't offered free to it's guests''
We had drinks in the bar lounge , which has comfy easy chairs as well as stools, tables and chairs.....Bar meals are served at a reasonable cost, although the drinks were a little pricey.... after meeting up with friends we went on through to the dining room, where staff had set a table aside for us...as there was 6 of us...A coach party was dining at the buffet, but we ordered off the main menu...The food unfortunately was pretty average, the pate for starter was tasty and a good potion , one who had steak even had it presented quite cremated as she had asked for it to be well done.....The mussels were small and shrunken....The cheese cake sweet was presented on a slate......whilst being a modern way of presentation, it didn't feel right and trying to get the jus and fruit salad off it was a bit cringy....(give me a plate dish any day)...Breakfast food was a buffet, good variety of food and of good presentation....Overall our stay was ok, with pleasant helpful staff, however I would suggest if not happy with a room allocated be polite and ask for a change, I am sure they will try to accommodate a request....
Don't be afraid to ask for another room if the one you are allocated doesn't meet your expec...
