“Good enough for a short stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

Stayed with my family for three night while my son competed at Ponds Forge Nationals. We had two rooms. Staff polite and generally helpful. Rooms were fairly standard business rooms. Generally clean except the carpets which were not very well vacuumed. First day neither rooms were cleaned but the bins were emptied and more tea and coffee supplies left. Only had breakfast one morning. Breakfast was fairly minimal in choice but what there was was fresh and scrambled eggs were very nice. Overall all the hotel is comfortable as a base and is well located. Two gripes. First being the price. Thought it was very expensive for the standard of accommodation and service. I think maybe they put their prices up because of the major swimming competition that we were all there for so had no choice but to pay. Second being the desk staff seeming to enjoy the daily bewilderment of guests trying to get the lift doors to open. You have to put your room key into the lift slot then take it out and press the button for the lift. So many people including myself stood there pressing the up button and nothing happening. Not once did a member of desk staff opposite the lifts mention having to put the room key in the lift slot first. In fact I think it was a bit of a laugh for them.

I stayed in Jury's inn for two weeks during my busines trip to Sheffield. Excellent location close to the city center. The rooms were nice and clean and the staff were friendly and courteous. Free tea/coffee making facilities are available in the rooms. Buffet breakfast is available for 10£ which offeres a wide selection. The sleep quality is very good with no disturbances from the outside. Highly recommend this hotel for a short stay in Sheffield.

Stayed here because Leopold was fully booked and was not disappointed. A Jurys room is a Jurys room but it was clean, spacious and comfortable. Check in was pleasant and efficient and when I asked for directions the receptionist (David?) was really helpful and took the time to make sure I knew exactly where I was going. Breakfast was fine, milk on table was off but it was the hottest day of the year :-), and there was plenty of choice.

I would still choose the Leopold for location and quality but Jurys at £60 is hard to beat for value for money.

My wife & I went to see a concert in Sheffield's City Hall yesterday and booked into the city's Jurys Inn hotel for one night.
Its location is just great for for all the city centres restaurants & bars and most importantly for us the City Hall theater.
For a charge of £36.80 for a double room its unbelievable value, clean, nice decor, only one gripe the pillows were rock hard.
Outside temperature was well into the eighties outside but the room air con more than coped.
We didn't eat in the restaurant but it looked the usual fare at these establishments.
Car parking a couple of minutes walk away.

Stayed here whilst attending a conference in July '13.

The hotel is obviously pretty new and the finishes reflect that. Foyer areas and the bedrooms are absolutely standard business hotel fare and are fine for a short stay.

The room was comfortable and pretty clean. The air conditioning in the room worked really well and was essential during my visit during really hot weather. Despite having a room directly opposite the lift and the hotel being full, there was very little noise in the night and I slept well.

Breakfast was fine, nothing special - a self service buffet that includes all the usual hot and cold things. Enjoyed watching staff run to extinguish small toast fires in the belt toaster each morning.

Only grip about the hotel is that the Wifi costs £10 for 24 hours. That's not as expensive as I have seen it, but it is such a huge rip off. In 2013 surely Wifi should be included in the room rate at a business hotel?

Staff very friendly and polite whenever I spoke to them. Would probably stay again.

I read a few reviews here and I was quite anxious because I stayed in Sheffield hundreds of times, but never on this hotel before.

The hotel facilities are quite good, recent hotel good location, just a few minutes walking to city center. You have to pay the car park, but the hotel have some agreements with "the moor car park", just across the street. for 4 pounds the car can stay overnight.

the food and service at bar, restaurant and breakfast room are quite ok, on my stay I can´t complain about the service and the staff was all the time very helpfull and smiling, the oposite I read on a few reviews here.

I would say, that one thing the hotel could improve, was to install power outlets in the toillets, special for men it´s usefull for shaving machines.

In fact to use the lift you have to use the key card of the room, but that´s a good thing considering the security, just who is looking for a midnight escort visit that can be a problem :)

So, the balance was very positive about my stay, the only thing I would say, is for the price you pay on this hotel you can find something more "posh", not too far.

But definitly I had a very good stay in Jurys Inn Sheffield, and for some reason my usual hotel will be full again, this hotel will be a very good option.

Room Tip: ask for room facing the back street, avoid the main avenue with a lot of traffic.
