“Nice pies and nice price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

Sweeney & Todd is a very nice pie pub in the centre of Reading.
It is the perfect place for enjoying a good British atmosphere.
From scotch eggs to the Sweeney & Todd pie everybody comes out satisfied.

“Pies and ale”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013 via mobile

I'm unsure how the price guide arrives at a figure of £6-£64 when £15 would get you double pie and chips, a meal to satisfy all but the heartiest of appetites. Ideally situated for a quick, keenly priced and very tasty meal before a show at The Hexagon but not too far from anywhere central to make a diversion inconvenient. Real ale too. They've been getting it right for years and that shows no sign if changing.

“Top pie”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Brilliant, reasonably priced, pies. Take always are a steal, eat in and you can enjoy the lovely atmosphere. A real Reding institution! Allways stop by when I'm in Reading.

“Reliable as ever”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

I've been coming here for around 20 years and it hasn't changed much (including the decor! That could do with a lick of paint!). Good pies, good veg, good puddings and good beer. A Reading institution that seemingly can survive the chains of restaurants that have opened in the town.
Probably not for everyone (veggies, those who want spic and span places, those who want impeccable service!), but those of us in the know would not go elsewhere.

“unbeatable pies”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

If you go to one place in Berkshire you have to go here. The pies are the best I've ever had and they do a huge variety of home made pies from their own suppliers.

Family run and owned, you just can't beat the service.

*Vegetarians need to be careful of the vegetable pies as they use lard in the pastry!
