Went with an old girlfriend (as in longstanding, not long in the tooth - either or us ...) for a Saturday lunch.
A devil to find (thank god for Satnavs!) but worth the drive through the slow traffic of Caversham / Reading.
Spent a very pleasant couple of hours here. Chenin blanc - very refreshing. We both had the mussels - superb, She had chunky fries, I had whitebait. Nice and light, very tasty. Good value for money.
I don't do dessert buy my friend did. We asked about it (grilled peach with caramel and ice cream): it was explained well, but she wasn't sure. It arrived and was disappointing. It happens BUT ... one of the staff came up to the table and asked what she thought of the dessert as it was an experiment that the staff had tried and were divided about, so they were getting customer feedback. Very impressive, especially as we were critical (though, we hope) constructively so.
Would definitely go back, either with friends or just my and my old boy ...
